It's hard to argue that there is a more iconic scoring method in NBA 2K25 than the dunk. Driving to the basket, launching into the air, and jamming the basketball through the hoop are some of the most exhilarating moments in the popular gaming series and the real games. In most cases, it's a guaranteed score and a way to make a defining statement over the opposition while getting the crowd on their feet that players like LeBron James use to great effect.
NBA 2K25 Confirms Return of Controversial Feature
Publisher 2K confirms the return of a popular feature in NBA 2K25 that caused controversy after its removal from the previous title.
As such, it will be a question for any new player coming to this year's entry to wonder how they can pull off this famous move to strike that fear into their opponent. Fortunately, it's not the most difficult thing to pull off in the game, though it may be slightly confusing with the slight details needed to make it happen. That's why this guide is here to help players figure out how to slam the ball home with a dunk in NBA 2K25 and ignite a frenzy.
How to Dunk in NBA 2K25
As has been the case with the franchise's features for quite some time, there are two ways to shoot the basketball: use the Sqaure/X button or the right stick to pull it off properly. Luckily, both methods will work when dunking the ball; people just have to know what to do beforehand.
In order to dunk the ball, players have to hold down either the R2 or right trigger on their controller to trigger their character's sprinting and drive to the hoop. Once they have done this, all they need to do is press and hold the Square/X button or press and hold up or down on the right stick to trigger their player to dunk the ball.
Of course, the character needs to be close enough to the hoop itself to prompt the dunking animation, though they can keep the shooting button pressed down. Once the character is within range, the animation will trigger.
Now, having a defender will make this much more difficult to pull off, and players will need to make sure that their character is either taller than the defender (using Victor Wembanyama will help) or has an open lane to the basket. Once it does, players just have to sit back and enjoy the show.
