NBA 2K26: Beginner Tips
NBA 2K26 is a lot of fun to play, but can be challenging for those who are new to the sport and franchise.
How to Get Custom Takeovers in NBA 2K26
To unlock custom Takeovers in NBA 2K26, you have to unlock all 44 normal Takeovers i n MyCareer first. Once you've gotten them all, you'll need to fill up your Takeover progression meter one last time to unlock Custom Takeovers for your account.
Takeover progress is shared between characters, so you only need to do this once per account.
It's a long, long grind to unlock all 44 Takeovers, and then the final Takeover progression bar for custom Takeovers moves much slower than the previous ones. You can check your current Takeover unlock progress in the Progression menu. Just scroll down to the Takeover tab, and you'll see your Takeover Meter, equipped Takeover, and upcoming unlocks.
Once unlocked, you'll get access to four custom Takeover slots that you can tweak to your liking. You can choose the three attributes that get boosted, pick the Takeover Ability that you get at level five, and change the Takeover's name to whatever you want. There aren't any restrictions when choosing attributes, and you can use any Takeover Ability you want (as long as your player meets the Takeover requirements).
Custom Takeovers are a huge change for endgame builds in NBA 2K26, and you can specialize your player even further by boosting specific attributes and mixing in certain Takeover Abilities. Since you get four slots, feel free to experiment. You can also edit your custom Takeovers at any time, which is great for players who want to test out new builds or use cap breakers to cross attribute thresholds and unlock even more Takeover Abilities.
