If you’re going to watch one Isekai anime this weekend, let it be Uncle from Another World. The series went through some issues with delays while it was airing in 2022 and 2023, but anime fans can finally sit back and enjoy it all in one sitting.
Isekai anime might not be for everyone, but much like Konosuba and Re:Zero, Uncle from Another World adds its own unique twist to the genre that makes it worth watching. The anime is filled with retro callbacks and some really funny gags that would’ve made it stand out more had it not been hampered by a troubled release schedule.

Talk about not judging a book by its cover. At first glance, The Way of the Househusband might seem like some Yakuza anime, but it’s much more light-hearted than you’d expect it to be. The series is more of a slice-of-life, with comedy stemming from the juxtaposition between former gangster Tatsu’s domestic activities and his stereotypical Yakuza appearance and mannerisms, with just enough action to keep things interesting.

An interview with Laurie Ulster and Victoria Rosenthal, co-authors of the upcoming The Way of the Househusband: The Gangster’s Guide to Housekeeping.
The Way of the Househusband is perfect for fans of over-the-top comedy and the Yakuza film genre. The series often plays things up for laughs, but there are also some great moments between Tatsu and his career woman wife, Miku, that make this Yakuza parody stand out as something worth watching.

If you didn’t get a chance to check out Delicious in Dungeon while it was airing during the winter and spring 2024 seasons, now might be the time. Where the majority of fantasy anime revolve around overpowered abilities, intense battles, and expansive world-building, Delicious in Dungeon focuses on something else entirely: cooking.
Aside from being a great show to turn on while you’re snacking on something tasty, Delicious in Dungeon stands out as a very unique concept with a great cast of characters who will have you invested in no time. With a second season on the way, now is the perfect time to get into this unique fantasy adventure.

Alien abductions, paranormal anomalies, occult mysteries, and a touch of teenage rom-com drama all make Science Saru’s adaptation of Dandadan one of the most unique anime you’ll watch this year. The series follows Alien-obsessed Okarun and paranormal believer Momo as they deal with various occult and extraterrestrial incidents while striking an unlikely friendship. The series sticks out with stylish animation, beautiful visuals, and a cast of characters who make every episode memorable.

Dandadan received the most nominations during the 9th Crunchyroll Anime Awards with 22, but ultimately lost out on anime of the year to Solo Leveling. Still, the series won over plenty of anime fans, and with season 2 currently airing as part of the Summer 2025 line-up, now is the perfect time to join the ride.

Cyberpunk 2077 might’ve stumbled out of the gate when it released late in 2020, but the same can’t be said for Studio Trigger’s Edgerunners. The anime is set in Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk universe and takes place a year before the events of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, following a group of mercenaries as they navigate the dangerous criminal underworld of Night City.
The series combines beautiful visuals with an emotionally charged narrative and a main cast of characters you can’t help but root for. Edgerunners was initially supposed to be a one-off, but the recent announcement of a sequel series makes this a great time to visit Night City.
