Neve Campbell Joins The Cast Of X-Men '97 Season 2 As Polaris
On May 12th, 2025, the creator and executive producer, Beau DeMayo, posted on X that he cast Neve Campbell as Polaris in X-Men '97 season 2. He praised her performance and wrote, "She does amazing work bringing something new."
Previously, fans thought Neve Campbell was playing Polaris in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and My Time To Shine posted this recently. Alex Perez retweeted and said, "Yeah, I'll confirm it." When a fan asked if Campbell would voice a character on X-Men '97, Perez said no and noted she has had one voice part in the past.
X-Men '97 season 1 premiered on Disney+ on March 20th, 2024 and ran for 10 episodes. The series brings back beloved characters such as Logan/Wolverine (Cal Dodd), Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale), and Scott Summers/Cyclops (Ray Chase). Polaris (also named Dr. Lorna Sally Dane) was introduced in The X-Men #49, which was published in October 1968, and has made a few appearances in pop culture. Liza del Mundo voiced the character on the 2009 TV series Wolverine and the X-Men, and Mary Long voiced her in X-Men: The Animated Series, which aired on the Fox Kids Network from 1992 to 1997.
Campbell is also reprising her role of Sidney Campbell in Scream 7, which was one of the biggest casting announcements for the upcoming slasher sequel. Horror fans will have to wait a little while longer to see the final girl again as the movie will be released on February 27th, 2026. She has played a host of tough characters recently, including Maggie McPherson on Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer and Raven on the Peacock adaptation of the video game Twisted Metal. Although Campbell has starred in live-action movies and TV shows throughout her impressive career, she voiced a Wiccan character named Cassandra in The Simpsons season 21, episode 7, " Rednecks and Broomsticks." It will be interesting to see how she took on the role of Polaris.
The actress is also known for portraying smart and determined teenager Julia Salinger on the 1990s drama Party of Five and starring in the 2003 ballet movie The Company. A former dancer, Campbell also co-wrote the story for the film and served as a producer. In a 2024 interview with IndieWire, she shared her approach to projects:
“It starts with: Would I be interested in watching this? Is this something that is my cup of tea, that’s my taste, that I think is interesting and could be fascinating to others as well? Does it say something that maybe means something or might touch someone in some way? That’s what art is."
After the dramatic X-Men '97 season 1 finale, it's tough to wait for more. Unfortunately, fans have to wait a little longer to see X-Men '97 season 2, as it will reportedly premiere in 2026.
