Team Asobi has recently released five new challenge levels for Astro Bot. These new Vicious Void Galaxy levels are the latest free DLC provided by the Astro Bot developers, and they’re intended to test the skills of veteran players due to their difficult challenges.

Released in September 2024, Astro Bot was a huge hit. Astro Bot won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, as well as Best Game Direction, Best Family Game, and Best Action/Adventure.

The main mechanic of Donkey Kong Bananza is already a great fit for Nintendo’s gorilla, but it could be even better in the hands of Sony’s Astro Bot.

Now, Team Asobi has released five new challenge levels in the Vicious Void Galaxy, which are free to all players. The levels include Twin-Frog Trouble, Suck It Up, Handhold Havoc, High Inflation, and a secret fifth one called Megamix Mastery. While the first four levels focus on individual abilities that should be used to complete them, Megamix Mastery requires multiple skills to be employed, and has already been well-received by the community on social media.

  • Twin-Frog Trouble
  • Suck It Up
  • Handhold Havoc
  • High Inflation
  • Megamix Mastery

According to the developers, these new levels also come with their own Special Bots. Last month, it was revealed that Ghost of Yotei’s main character Atsu would appear in Astro Bot, being voiced by Erika Ishii. After unveiling the five new levels, Sony also revealed an updated version of the Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller, which is set to be released “later this year.”

These five levels are just the latest round of free DLC for Astro Bot. Last year, Team Asobi released six new levels for Astro Bot, with five speedrun levels being added to the Stellar Speedway Galaxy between October and November, and one additional Christmas-themed level at the year’s end. Earlier this year, the devs also added five challenge levels to the Vicious Void Galaxy, bringing more VIP bots to the game, such as Heihachi Mishima from the Tekken series, and Jade from Beyond Good and Evil. Hopefully, Team Asobi will still have some new levels being released soon, but it remains to be seen whether this will happen or if the team will focus on future projects instead.
