  • Developer Toys for Bob expressed interest in working on a new Banjo-Kazooie game.
  • No new Banjo-Kazooie game has been announced.
  • Toys for Bob is rumored to be working on a new Spyro game.

A recent interview with the head of developer Toys for Bob has revealed that the studio would be interested in working on a new Banjo-Kazooie game. Toys for Bob is known for working on popular franchises such as Skylanders, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro, but the studio has never been part of a Banjo-Kazooie game before.

In its over three decades of existence, Toys for Bob has developed some very popular games, such as four titles in the Skylanders series, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Last year, Toys for Bob left Activision to become an independent studio, and fans are curious to know what the developer is currently working on.

In a recent interview with Canadian Guy Eh, Toys for Bob’s head, Paul Yan, talked about which IP the studio would like to work on if given a chance. According to Yan, there are many possibilities now that the studio is independent again, but Banjo-Kazooie would certainly be a franchise the team would “love” to work with. The developer also highlighted how long it has been since gamers played a Banjo-Kazooie game, saying that “I think we all can agree Banjo’s been hibernating long enough, right?”

Toys for Bob Wants to Work on a New Banjo-Kazooie Game

I think we all can agree Banjo’s been hibernating long enough, right?

Banjo-Kazooie's latest entry was Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts in 2008. Despite characters such as Banjo appearing in the Super Smash Bros. Franchise, the series has been largely dormant since then, and it could be exciting for fans if Toys for Bob worked on a new entry after so many years.

Unfortunately, it does not seem that a new Banjo-Kazooie game will be out anytime soon. Last year, Xbox insider Jez Corden shot down rumors that a new Banjo-Kazooie could be in the works. In addition to that, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said in 2020 that a Banjo-Kazooie revival would be in Rare’s hands, but the company does not seem to be working on the title or interested in doing so, according to its most recent interviews.

At the moment, Toys for Bob is working on an undisclosed game for the Xbox Game Studios. It’s believed that the game will be a new entry in the Spyro franchise, and some rumors have indicated that it could use “Mystery of the Dragon” as its subtitle. In any case, this is still speculation at this point, as Toys for Bob has not yet revealed its next project.
