Visionary game designer and founder of Kojima Productions Hideo Kojima has recently dropped another tease suggesting a new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is coming soon. Rumors of a sequel to the acclaimed 2019 action-adventure game began swirling in 2020, but Death Stranding 2 wasn’t officially announced to be in development until 2022. Kojima later revealed the sequel during The Game Awards 2022.

On the Beach will see the return of actor Norman Reedus as Sam, joined by new cast member, Elle Fanning, and returning actors Léa Seydoux and Troy Baker. Ahead of the game’s projected 2025 launch, the industry believes Death Stranding 2’s release date will be confirmed soon. The sequel was recently given a rating in Brazil, which signals that the game is perhaps nearing completion, and Kojima is expected to showcase more details during the upcoming SXSW panel since its presence was missed during Sony’s February State of the Play.

How Death Stranding 2 Can Make Its Character Relationships More Meaningful

Death Stranding's character relationships are certainly one of its most underrated features, but the sequel could make them a bit more meaningful.

Posted on Twitter, Kojima shared a photo with the gaming community on his official English account, showing the professional working hard in front of a computer while using the Astro Bot PlayStation 5 controller. Similar to Kojima’s previous Death Stranding 2 trailer tease, which stemmed from another photo showing the slide “A Hideo Kojima Game” being edited on computer software, the developer confirmed he was editing the trailer in the caption, noting, "Trailer editing and game building," which heavily suggests a new trailer is imminent.

Hideo Kojima Teases New Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Trailer

Kojima’s new tease of a trailer has certainly left the community hyped, but Death Stranding 2 fans also have March 9 to look forward to as well, when the South by Southwest convention takes place in a few weeks. Fans replied to Kojima’s recent post expressing how much they loved seeing these behind-the-scenes shots during development, and some also showed their excitement for more Physint news.

The Death Stranding IP tends to be shrouded in mystery at the best of times, and Kojima and his team are doing their best to drip-feed sequel teases as the year goes on. One tidbit included Kojima’s brief new look at Death Stranding 2, featuring an extended scene of footage fans have witnessed before, showing Sam (Reedus) and Fragile (Seydoux) talking about an illusive benefactor. Noting that this teaser was part of the main sound mixing process, this is another hint that possibly indicates a new trailer is on the way.
