New Fight Night Game Receives Promising Update From Insider

An industry insider and reporter has shared a promising update surrounding a potential new Fight Night game from EA Sports, claiming that the studio has now revived the project after pausing development on multiple occasions. The last Fight Night game was all the way back in 2011 and fans have been begging EA for a new installment ever since, but the studio's focus on its UFC games has led to the series being placed on the back shelf multiple times.

Alongside a fresh update on a potential Fight Night revival, it has also been claimed that EA has now started development on the next UFC game, which is expected to be titled EA Sports UFC 6 and released in 2025. While Fight Night was once EA's crowning achievement in the combat sports genre, the series has been left dormant since 2011 as the studio has been working with the UFC to develop new titles ever since 2014's EA Sports UFC. But following the launch of Undisputed on October 11, EA could be gearing up to get back in the ring with a brand-new Fight Night game.

While Undisputed's broken power punches and sync issues have resulted in a rocky launch for developer Steel City Interactive, it has filled a gap in the market after thirteen years with no major boxing game release. But according to Insider Gaming reporter Mike Straw, Undisputed may soon have an opponent to face off against as EA is looking to return to the Fight Night series. During Straw's latest YouTube video, the journalist revealed that while the game has had a rocky development cycle, being paused and restarted multiple times, "EA is once again working on Fight Night."

New Fight Night Game Reportedly Revived by EA

This isn't the first time that a rumor on a new Fight Night game has circulated, as it was reported by VGC back in 2021 that the studio had greenlit the project before pausing it to focus on EA Sports UFC 5. With recent rumors suggesting that the studio is now working on another installment in the UFC series, it's unclear how much of a priority a new Fight Night game will be for EA. According to Straw, EA "doesn't know when it will be coming," but it is expected to be released on the current generation of console. He also explained that the original plan was to launch the title between the next two UFC games, but that no longer appears to be the case.

EA reportedly "worried about the sales" of new Fight Night game

Straw goes on to explain that EA has "kept a close eye" on Steel City Interactive and Undisputed and that the studio isn't concerned about paying the licensing fee for all of the boxers that would be in the game. However, the journalist does state that EA is "worried about the sales" and has questioned whether the interest in a new Fight Night game is there, but that question appears to have been answered with all of the talk surrounding Undisputed. As development has reportedly been stopped and started multiple times over the years, there's no way to know what the future holds for Fight Night, but Straw says that "three to four years is a good window" for the game's release.
