Summary

  • Silent Hill 2 remake launching Oct 8, followed by Slitterhead on Nov 8.
  • Silent Hill 2 is the long-awaited remake of one of the best horror games of all time.
  • Slitterhead is an action-horror game from the creator of the Silent Hill series.

Fans of the Silent Hill franchise should circle October 8 and November 8 on their calendars because the former is when the Silent Hill 2 remake finally launches and the latter is when the new game from Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama, Slitterhead, releases to the masses. Silent Hill fans have been starved of quality new content ever since Konami canceled Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills, but the franchise is now enjoying a renaissance of sorts.

From 2015 to 2022, no new Silent Hill projects were released at all, though the preceding decade was home to multiple main series releases, mobile spin-offs, film adaptations, and more. Konami now has a renewed focus on Silent Hill, which started with 2023's Silent Hill Ascension and has continued with 2024's free PS5 exclusive game Silent Hill: The Short Message. The next step in Silent Hill's big comeback is the Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team, which is currently set to launch on October 8.

Silent Hill 2 Remake's New Camera Perspective Could Betray its Most Important Element

Silent Hill 2 was a groundbreaking game in the horror genre, but one change in the remake could fundamentally change the core of its identity.

With the Silent Hill 2 remake coming on October 8, it's obvious that day is going to be a big one for fans of Konami's franchise. The Silent Hill 2 remake is looking to modernize what many consider to be the best game in the series and one of the best horror games ever made. The new version of Silent Hill 2 will feature significantly improved graphics, new controls, and a new combat system, and will generally be looking to bring the game up to 2024 standards. Of course, there are still those that may prefer the original over the remake, but fans should withhold their judgment until they get to play the new take on the classic themselves. In any case, October 8 is going to be a big day for Silent Hill fans, but there's reason to circle November 8 on their calendars as well.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Release Date

  • October 8 on PC and PS5

Slitterhead is launching on November 8, and while it's not a new Silent Hill game, it's the next game from series creator Keiichiro Toyama. Slitterhead is an action horror game where people mutate into bizarre creatures that players have to take out utilizing a variety of supernatural weaponry. It may not scratch the same itch as Silent Hill, but the fact that it's a new horror game from the person that created the series in the first place means it should still be on every Silent Hill fan's radar.

Slitterhead Release Date

  • November 8 on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X

Thanks to Slitterhead and the Silent Hill 2 remake, October 8 and November 8 will both be big days for Silent Hill fans. Luckily, there's even more for franchise fans to look forward to beyond 2024. Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall are both in active development and there's a new Silent Hill movie in the works as well, which should ensure that fans won't have to deal with another extended hiatus any time soon.
