Nintendo Reveals Pokemon Pokopia for 2026
Nintendo unveiled a trailer of Pokemon Pokopia during its latest Nintendo Direct event, revealing that the new title will be available sometime in 2026. In the new game, the player controls a Ditto that has transformed into a human, and can learn special abilities from other Pokemon to change the environment. Some abilities were showcased, such as the protagonist learning how to create bushes from a Bulbasaur or to water plants after meeting a Squirtle. The game will have cute graphics and a blocky art style that seems very reminiscent of Minecraft. The gameplay will likely make for a refreshing change of pace for a Pokemon game, as the focus seems to be on building instead of pitting creatures against each other.
While this was an exciting first look at Pokemon Pokopia, not many details are known about the title yet. For instance, it’s still unknown if Pokemon Pokopia will feature any kind of combat, cooking, or fishing minigames. Nintendo has, however, hinted at multiplayer, as the title appears as playable for one to four players on the official website. In any case, gamers should wait for more announcements to understand more about the intended experience.
Pokemon Pokopia may have been the bigger Pokemon-related announcement during the recent Nintendo Direct, but it was far from the only one. During the event, Nintendo also unveiled Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC, which will bring additional story content to the game. It was already known that the base title would feature quite a few Mega Evolutions, but the new DLC will also bring Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y to the roster.
Nintendo also showcased Mega Evolutions for the Gen 6 starters in Pokemon Legends: Z-A during the event, revealing the new forms obtainable by Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be released on October 16, and it’ll likely be a good pick for fans of the franchise to spend their time while they wait to finally play Pokemon Pokopia in 2026.
