Summary

  • Ubisoft Milan is working on a new AAA Rayman game, exciting fans who have waited for a mainline title.
  • Recent job postings have opened for a 3D animator to contribute to the project.
  • Ubisoft's interest in reviving the Rayman franchise could potentially help offset recent financial losses.

Recent job postings indicate that Ubisoft Milan is working on a new triple-A Rayman game. This is exciting news for Rayman fans, as it’s been a while since Ubisoft released any mainline game in the franchise, and the developers of the popular title Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope seem to many fans to be a perfect fit for the project.

The first Rayman was originally released in 1995, and it quickly became a classic. The title received sequels in 1999 and 2003, which were followed by Rayman Origins in 2011. Despite the character's popularity, the most recent mainline entry in the Rayman franchise was Rayman Legends in 2013. In the last few years, however, the character has not been forgotten, especially due to his appearance in the popular Raving Rabbids franchise, which has seen popular titles such as Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope released for the Nintendo Switch in 2022.

Ubisoft Releases Helpful Tool for Colorblind Players

Gaming studio giant Ubisoft releases an innovative new tool for colorblind players, which is set to be a game-changer for those with the condition.

Recently removed job postings archived on Reddit indicated that Ubisoft Milan is “seeking a talented 3D Gameplay Animator to be involved in the production of a prestigious AAA title for the Rayman brand.” The developer would work to ensure the quality of the content of gameplay animation assets. The job posting hints that this will be a full-blown AAA project, not a minor entry in the franchise.

Ubisoft Milan is Working on a New 'AAA' Rayman Game

It’s not too surprising to see Ubisoft Milan working on a Rayman game, though. Last year, Ubisoft confirmed that Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan were “starting an exploration phase of the Rayman brand,” which was still in early stages. The job posting essentially reaffirms the company’s interest in the franchise and hints at the large scope of the project. Back in 2023, the creative director of Mario + Rabbids, Davide Soliani, expressed interest in working on a Rayman game. However, the director left the studio early in 2025, and many fans have wondered if potential plans had fallen through as a result.

A major Rayman project could be big for the French publisher. Ubisoft recently reported huge losses, losing €159 million (around $177.9 million) for fiscal year 2024-2025, with a 20.5% drop in net bookings. It’s possible that bringing back classic franchises such as Rayman could positively impact its situation.

It’s impossible to tell when the next Rayman will be out, though. In any case, gamers should not expect the title to come out anytime soon, as it looks to still be in the early stages of development. Ubisoft recently delayed some of its biggest games to 2026 and 2027, too, which indicates that the company does not want to rush its projects.
