A new Steam game called Fields of Mistria has just been released in early access, and it seems like the perfect pick for gamers who love farming simulators such as Stardew Valley. Fields of Mistria is the first game made by NPC Studio and currently has Very Positive reviews on Steam.
Despite the genre’s roots dating back to the 90s with games like Harvest Moon, farming sims have exploded in popularity during the last decade with the release of Stardew Valley. This has led to the emergence of dozens of excellent farming sims on Steam every year.
Upcoming Game is Like a Western Version of Stardew Valley
A new cozy farming sim is coming with big Stardew Valley energy and a unique wild west theme, complete with bandit shootouts.
Now, Fields of Mistria has been released in early access on Steam, and it currently has 97% positive reviews. Set in the idyllic village of Mistria, the new game allows players to explore a small town with over 30 villagers, plant over 50 types of crops during different seasons, explore a magical world, and romance 12 characters. Fields of Mistria has activities such as fishing, mining, crafting items, raising different animals, and even unlockable magical skills that will make farming easier. At the moment, however, the game is not entirely complete. Romances, for example, are still incomplete, and will only go to 4 out of 10 hearts, with more content to be added later.
Fields of Mistria Has Strong Stardew Valley Vibes
Unfortunately, Fields of Mistria does not have an official release date for its 1.0 version. However, the game’s official Steam page indicates that the title is planned to be in early access for around a year and that it will receive “regular content updates” during this time. If the early impressions of the Steam players are anything to go by, though, Fields of Mistria could eventually be an amazing indie farming sim after its 1.0 release.
Fields of Mistria is the latest of many farming simulator games to be available on Steam. Earlier this year, for example, Everafter Falls was released on Steam. In Everafter Falls, gamers can explore another idyllic world, but the title has a sci-fi twist, as players start the story by waking up and discovering that their character’s previous life was only a simulation, and have to explore the real world.
The PC gaming market is full of Stardew Valley-inspired games these days, and one of the most noteworthy ones is the upcoming Mirthwood, which will be out on September 11. Mirthwood promises classic farming sim tropes such as taking care of a farm, but will mix them with RPG elements and exploration in a fantasy world.
