Trust, a newly announced vampire-themed FPS, is coming to Steam. Byte Barrel is focused on laying plenty of groundwork and lore around the new world that it has committed to building. With a strong 90s-styled setting and a comic book aesthetic to bring it to life, people who are fans of all things vampires and boomer-shooters may want to keep an eye out for Trust, once it releases on Steam sometime soon.

There are plenty of games that deliver on the experience of playing through a vampire's life. However, Byte Barrel seems determined to enrich that experience with plenty of detail. Previous games in the developer's catalog, namely the Forgive Me Father series, have focused on leading its players through Lovecraftian worlds instead. Fans have praised the developer's dedication to the atmosphere created in its worlds.

Byte Barrel just announced Trust, a 90s-inspired first-person-shooter blended with immersive sim elements, focused on the experience of living as a vampire. Coming "bloody soon" and available for wishlisting on Steam, players will take on the role of a recently risen vampire who has been hibernating for hundreds of years and finds themselves on the losing side of a war. In this game's world, humans have become obsessed with vampire blood after discovering its use as an effective power source. The player can take up arms and fight back to turn the tide.

Trust Lets Gamers Play As a Vampire

True to its immersive-sim elements and conscious of a vampire's weakness to daylight, Trust intends to offer alternative ways around combat. Its player will be given the option to use stealth by relying on interactive objects that are found in the environment. Byte Barrel states that each run is "a different experience," which seems like a nod to potential roguelike elements that could amp up the gameplay experience even more. A day and night cycle adds depth to this game, as tasks will vary depending on what time it is in the world.

Trust seems like a blend of everything Byte Barrel has worked on in the past with a fresh coat of paint. Using the experience that the developer gained through crafting a series of Lovecraft-inspired FPS games and drenching a new world in the hand-drawn comic book aesthetic Byte Barrel has become known for, Trust appears to be a step in an interesting new direction. Although there is no clear release date, the fact that Trust is coming soon is enough for some of Byte Barrel's fans to get excited.
