The next Witcher novel will focus on a teenage Geralt of Rivia as he takes his first steps on The Path after leaving Kaer Morhen. While this period of Geralt's life has been touched upon in previous books, the new The Witcher novel will delve more deeply into the many challenges the character faced during his early years.

Starting with a short story released in 1986, author Andrzej Sapkowski penned 14 additional stories in the Witcher universe following incredibly positive feedback. This led to The Witcher Saga, five novels that have been translated into 37 languages and have seen incredible popularity with fantasy fans around the world. Inspiring a comic book series, a tabletop RPG, a live-action Netflix series, and, of course, CD Projekt Red's wildly popular video game series, The Witcher has continued to captivate audiences many years after the last book was published. Now, it looks like Sapkowski is eager and ready to return to Geralt's world.

In a new post from Redanian Intelligence (spotted by IGN), it was revealed that Sapkowski's next book, which he has been working on for the past few years, will follow Geralt starting around the age of 18 and detailing his first steps on The Path. While the author previously revealed that his next book would focus on Geralt, it was unclear when exactly the tale would take place. The title of the novel was also revealed to be Rozdroże Kruków, or something akin to Raven's Crossing in English, though no official translation has been shared just yet. The book will hit shelves in Poland on December 1, with international release dates to be shared in the future. At Comic Con Vienna, Sapkowski let foreign audiences know that the book will be available worldwide sometime in early 2025.

The Next Witcher Novel Will Follow a Young Geralt and Is Slated to Release Globally in Early 2025

While fans eagerly await the opportunity to delve into Geralt's life as a young Witcher, the community is also gearing up for the next game from CD Projekt Red. As The Witcher 3 nears its 10th anniversary in 2025, details of the fourth installment have begun to surface, with the developer announcing that over 400 employees are hard at work on the next game. While built on the third title's legacy, The Witcher 4 will kick off a new trilogy in the Witcher universe, with Geralt slated to play a supporting role as a new protagonist steps into the limelight. Pre-production on the game began in May 2022, and a release window is currently unknown.

CD Projekt Red is also working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, internally called Project Orion. Recently, the studio posted a job listing for someone with experience with multiplayer games, leading many to believe that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will have a multiplayer component. The follow-up to the 2020 RPG is still in the planning stages of development.
