The beginning of NieR: Automata throws players into the beginning of one of 2B's missions. Once you land your flight unit and begin fighting with your melee weapons, you'll get access to a one-handed sword and a two-handed sword.

The two-handed sword is the Virtuous Treaty, a fairly powerful weapon that you'll shortly lose after finishing the prologue. While the weapon may be lost for now, you can get it back as quickly as you'd like once you unlock free roaming quickly into the next chapter.

Where To Get The Virtuous Treaty In NieR: Automata

This is the first additional weapon you can get in the game if you go straight to it, and it's not far from where you first spawn after leaving the bunker for the surface. Once you land in the city ruins and jump down to the lower area, look to the left side to see a highway right over the nearest access point. Head towards the highway head-on to jump on the ruins in order to climb up and run along the main road of the highway. Doing so will lead you back to where the factory is.

Jump down to the factory and follow the grassy path towards the main structure. Tucked away along the left side will be another access point along with a set of stairs leading to the upper area. In the upper area, look off to the left to see the destroyed bridge where you fought the Goliath-class enemy. Run to the edge of the destroyed bridge to find the Virtuous Treaty sticking out of the ground where it can be picked up and taken back.

Just past the sword to the right is your old body which can also be looted to get back all your consumables from the prologue.

Virtuous Treaty Base Stats In NieR: Automata

The Vituous Treaty In The Menu
  • Attack: 300-330
  • Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2

Like most two-handed weapons, this sword focuses on wide-sweeping attacks that hit many enemies for a lot of damage, though overall it has a slow attack speed. Through upgrades, this weapon can potentially have one of the highest damage spreads in the game, as long as you can make the slow attack speed work. You can also combo this two-handed weapon with another by using a heavy attack while fighting with a quicker weapon. This won't let you get a full combo from this weapon, but a brief attack in a quicker combo to make up for its slow attack speed but still take advantage of it's high damage.
