Among all of the mechanics and features in the open-world survival experience that is Inflexion Games' Nightingale, perhaps one of the more interesting tools at players' disposal is the trusty umbrella. It can be used to shield players from the elements of the realms, stopping the unwanted effects of rain and the sun, but it can also be used to traverse the world from heights.
Being able to survey the world around you while gracefully gliding down from an otherwise dangerous height is probably never going to get old, but in order for players to do that, they must complete a few key steps first. This guide will show players just what to do to craft the first umbrella in Nightingale.
How to Craft the First Umbrella in Nightingale
Such an important tool should be high on the priorities, and players can indeed gain access to the umbrella quite early on in the game. Once the task of locating the nearest Essence Trader is given, players should make their way over as quickly as they can.
Talking to the trader will display a list of blueprints and recipes that can be purchased using Essence Dust, and the Simple Umbrella recipe goes for only 30 Essence Dust. Purchasing it will then make it possible for players to craft one, as long as they have the required ingredients: one Wood Bundle, one Stone Block, and one piece of Hide.
With all of that in hand, go to the Simple Workbench to craft the wooden Simple Umbrella, which possesses 1.0% movement speed, 5.0% stamina efficiency, and a stamina regeneration of one per second.
Using the Umbrella in Nightingale
To utilize the umbrella on your travels, make sure it is equipped in your offhand. Now, you can use it as a portable shelter by holding down F/Space. Should you be jumping off a dangerous height, do the same and it will allow you to glide for as long as you have enough stamina.
This will make it possible to descend safely from heights; just make sure to keep an eye on the stamina you have left. Using the third-person perspective will also make it easier to witness the glide in a more satisfying fashion.
