The many realms of the Faewilds are not kind, and Nightingale players will have to keep their wits about them in order to stay alive. However, their own wellness isn't the only thing they need to look out for — base buildings also risk destruction, and there's no worse feeling in a survival game than seeing the home you spent so much effort on getting destroyed by a falling tree.

Nightingale: How To Use A Campfire

The campfire is one of the earliest things you'll learn to build in Nightingale, but it can be a bit confusing to figure out how to use it, at first.

Items can be easily repaired in Nightingale, but fixing buildings is going to take a bit more legwork than usual, especially at the beginning. If you're worried about the crumbling walls of your house, here's how you can fix them.

How to Repair Damaged Buildings in Nightingale

Before you can patch up your base, you'll first need some sort of one-handed hammer. The first kind you can find is the Simple Hammer, which is your basic wood-and-stone tool for general home maintenance. You can get the crafting blueprint for it from an Essence Trader, who you can find by opening up your map while exploring a realm. The recipe costs 30 Essence Dust, so make sure to stock up first.

Once you've bought the recipe, you'll have to craft the Simple Hammer. Go back to your base and interact with your Simple Workbench to find the recipe. To make a Simple Hammer, you'll need:

  • 1x Stone Block
  • 1x Wood Bundle
  • 2x Straps

Stone Blocks and Wood Bundles can be gathered by breaking rocks and trees respectively. Meanwhile, to get Straps in Nightingale, you'll have to hunt down animals and take their pelts to a Tanning Station, which you'll have to build in your base alongside the rest of your crafting stations. Thankfully, you only need some Sticks and Plant Fiber to make a basic Tanning Station, and you can plenty of those almost everywhere.

After crafting your first Simple Hammer, equip it, then start hitting your damaged buildings with it. Each hit will restore only a small amount of building HP per hit, though you can expect higher-tier hammers to be more effective. Before you get any better equipment, however, you'll first need to follow Nightingale's quests and explore higher-leveled realms in order to get the necessary crafting blueprints and materials.

Buildings can be damaged by almost anything that would otherwise harm a player. This includes falling trees and hostile lifeforms found throughout the Faewilds. Moving or destroying your buildings in Nightingale might be the better course of action if you think your current location is too dangerous.
