Like most modern action games, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black features a wide range of costumes for players to choose from. Players who spent time with the original game will know that the methods for unlocking these additional outfits are slightly different than might be expected. While many games would make these items collectibles in the main game, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black requires you to participate in alternative game modes. Additional Costumes for Ryu:

In Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, you can unlock three additional costumes for Ryu Hayabusa. Aside from the Legendary Black Falcon costume, which is unlocked by default, the new costumes are as follows:

  • Ninja Gaiden – Complete the game on any difficulty (Hero Mode does not count, it must be Path of the Acolyte, Warrior, Mentor, & Master Ninja.)
  • Dragon Muscles – Complete 10 Tag Missions (Tag missions are found on the main menu, and can be accessed from the start of the game.)
  • Fiend Hayabusa – Complete the game on Master Ninja Difficulty.

Completing the game on Master Ninja difficulty will unlock both the Fiend Hayabusa and Ninja Gaiden costumes. It will also unlock all difficulty-related costumes for the additional playable characters.

Additional Character Costumes:

Aside from Ryu, you can unlock additional costumes for Rachel, Ayane, and Momiji. These costumes are as follows:

  • Monk Robes – Momiji – Complete the game on Path of the Mentor difficulty. You must start a new game at this difficulty level. You cannot use Chapter Challenges.
  • Indigo-Dyed Happi – Momiji – Achieve the Master Ninja rank in 5 Chapter Challenges.
  • Business Suit – Rachel – Complete the game on Path of the Mentor difficulty.
  • Demon's Vacation – Rachel – Achieve the Master Ninja rank in 10 Chapter Challenges.
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma – Ayane – Complete the game on Path of the Mentor difficulty.
  • Dead or Alive 5 – Complete 20 Tag Missions

How to Change Outfits in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

Once you've unlocked any additional outfits in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, you'll get one chance to switch costumes each level. When you see the title screen for each chapter, you can press either Y or Triangle to select your outfit.

You can also switch outfits during Tag missions. When you select your character at the start of the mission, look at the bottom of the loadout list. There you will see all the available outfits for that character.
