A new Nintendo Direct has been announced for October 23, featuring roughly 60 minutes of Kirby Air Riders. While some Nintendo fans may have been hoping for new announcements, the presentation will at least offer them another look at the upcoming Kirby Air Riders.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd, Kirby Air Riders is a sequel to Kirby Air Ride, released for the GameCube in 2003. Despite receiving mixed reviews at the time, Kirby Air Ride eventually gained a cult following, and the sequel was announced earlier this year.
Nintendo Trademark Could Hint at Return of Beloved Feature
Some gamers think that a Nintendo trademark could be teasing the return of a popular feature that has been missing for a while.
When is the Next Nintendo Direct?
- The next Nintendo Direct will air on October 23 at 9 AM ET.
The next Nintendo Direct will be an excellent opportunity for fans who want to know more about Kirby Air Riders ahead of its release on November 20, 2025. According to Nintendo, the hour-long presentation will be held on October 23 at 9 AM ET, and it will be hosted by Masahiro Sakurai. Known for his work on the popular Super Smash Bros. Franchise, Sakurai was also the director of the original Kirby Air Ride. It’s currently unknown what details will be revealed about the racing game, but gamers can expect to learn many interesting details about it and watch new gameplay.
Kirby Air Riders has already been featured in lengthy Nintendo Direct showcases before. Back in August, a 45-minute livestream revealed more details about the upcoming racing game. In September, it was revealed that Kirby Air Riders will get two amiibos at release, one featuring Kirby with a Warp Star, and the other, a Bandana Waddle Dee with a Winged Star. According to Sakurai’s previous comments, Kirby Air Riders is "shaping up to be something great," and the team has been working on the title since 2021.
At least 12 playable characters are set to appear in Kirby Air Riders. Apart from the iconic Kirby, gamers will get to use Bandana Waddle Dee, Cappy, Chef Kawasaki, Gooey, Knuckle Joe, Magolor, King Dedede, Meta Knight, Starman, Susie, and Waddle Doo. Each character will have different stats and abilities, offering players the chance to explore different strategies. As Kirby Air Riders will have up to 16 players per race, however, more characters will likely be revealed soon, maybe even during the upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation.
Kirby Air Riders is just one of the upcoming first-party Nintendo Switch 2 games still scheduled to release this year. Apart from the racing game, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will be out on November 6, and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to be released on December 4.
