A Pokemon spin-off could be revealed during a potential Nintendo Direct that may air in September, according to three known industry leakers on social media. While the leaks did not specify which Pokemon spin-off would be showcased, fans debated whether it would be the return of an existing series or the launch of a new one altogether.
Following Gamescom and PAX West, rumors of a September 2025 Nintendo Direct broadcast started circulating on social media. Rumors from content creator SwitchForce claimed that a Nintendo Direct could air on September 11 or 12, and that three games featuring the number seven in some capacity would be revealed during the broadcast. Two games that may fit these criteria, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and 007 First Light, have already been confirmed to receive Switch 2 ports down the line. However, further details about a prospective Nintendo Direct in September remain elusive as of this writing.

Pokemon Spinoff Announcement Could Be Part Of A Rumored Nintendo Direct
Although all rumors about a potential September Nintendo Direct should be taken with a grain of salt, three known leakers have claimed that a Pokemon spin-off could soon be revealed. As reported on Twitter by Necrolipe, Centro, and Riddler Khu, a Pokemon spin-off could be unveiled in September during the rumored Nintendo Direct. When asked by a fan if news of Pokemon's tenth mainline generation would be shown at the Nintendo Direct, Necrolipe stated it was a spin-off, but did not provide any other details. Riddler Khu and Centro stated that the Pokemon spin-off news was also unrelated to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which will have news coming later this week, independent of any Nintendo Direct announcements. Neither Riddler Khu nor Centro stated what the Pokemon spin-off reveal could be, leaving fans to chime in with their guesses.
In response to the news, trainers discussed whether a Pokemon spin-off series from the DS era, such as Pokemon Ranger and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, would return via a remake on Switch 2 consoles. Other trainers pondered when Pokemon Colosseum or Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, both of which have been confirmed to arrive on the Nintendo GameCube: Nintendo Classics app in the future, would see a release date or window announcement.
As of this writing, The Pokemon Company has not officially stated what its future game release plans are beyond the upcoming launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. However, fans will not have to wait long for official Pokemon news, as the potential reveal of Mega Malamar in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is scheduled for September 10.
