The Nintendo Switch 2 has been one of the worst-kept secrets of the game industry thus far. Fans have known it's been in development for a long time, first via rumors, and then with confirmation finally arriving from Nintendo back in 2024. So many leaks transpired that fans largely knew what to expect by the time Nintendo finally revealed the Switch 2. However, it still hasn't gotten a full detailed breakdown from the company, with plans to reveal more and give players a hands-on opportunity starting in April.

Why Pokemon Gen 10 May Be the Perfect Time to Replicate One Gen 2 Feat

Pokemon Gen 10 has a lot of exciting paths it could take, and the more powerful hardware of the Switch 2 could be the key to replicating one feat.

Now, the confirmations for the aforementioned event are finally starting to roll out. Hopeful gamers all over the world are sharing their emails, with some getting in and others being unfortunately left out. This apparently includes The Game Awards' Geoff Keighley, who shared a now-deleted tweet lamenting that he hadn't made the cut for his local playtest. The playtests will be held starting on April 4 in New York and Paris, with dates continuing in Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania through June 1. There are also playtests planned for Hong Kong and Taipei, but no dates have been shared for them yet.

Nintendo Switch 2 Fans May Get Another Chance

For those who have received bad news regarding the event, there's still a possibility of making it in. Nintendo will be opening a waitlist on January 29 for those who would like to attend but didn't get selected. In the event of cancelations from potential attendees, select Nintendo Switch 2 fans will be chosen to take their spots.

The release of a new game console is always an exciting time, and it will be interesting to see how fans react once they begin trying out the Switch 2 for themselves. Details like the bigger screen, new Joy-Cons, and the new port on the Switch 2 are already known, but there's something to be said for getting one's hands on a system and trying it out for the first time. With the Nintendo Switch being one of the biggest successes the company has ever had, a lot is riding on this new system. More will become clear with the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and preview events.
