Nintendo's Splatoon franchise has become a major IP for the company, thanks to its focus on third-person multiplayer action. In fact, Splatoon 3 became a massive hit for Nintendo, selling over 10 million copies in its first three months after launch. Thanks to a new announcement, Splatoon fans have finally gotten an answer.

Splatoon 4 Feature Wish List

Nintendo has a chance to bring some new swagger to its Splatoon series in the next entry, as there are a few features that could spice things up.

As part of an update on the Nintendo Today app, the company revealed Splatoon Raiders, a new spinoff game within the franchise coming to the Switch 2. The debut trailer showcases Deep Cut, a trio of characters originally introduced in Splatoon 3, as they travel to a new location called the Spirhalite Islands chasing a new rumor, eventually becoming stranded after a crash-landing. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't share too much else in terms of gameplay or even a potential launch window.

Splatoon Raiders Coming to the Nintendo Switch 2

While details remain slim, Nintendo has confirmed that players will be taking the role of a mechanic with a mysterious background. Newly added images of the character also show off what appears to be homemade gear, including a weapon that appears to utilize common items like a bottle and rope, alongside a makeshift backpack and even a walking robot. Players will have a base of operations in a floating ship and Nintendo promises that the island will have a unique atmosphere. Interestingly enough, the game appears to be heavily inspired by the Splatoon 3 single-player campaign, with no mention of a multiplayer side as of yet.

Even with a new game announcement, Nintendo isn't forgetting about Splatoon 3 either. Alongside the Splatoon Raiders reveal, the company also confirmed a big new update coming on June 12. Even after announcing an end to regular updates for Splatoon 3, Nintendo is using Version 10 to add tons of new content and quality of life improvements. In fact, Splatoon 3 will have improved visuals and frame rate on the Switch 2, with crossplay ensuring that players on either console can continue to battle one another.
