Logitech has officially provided details about which of its webcams work with the Nintendo Switch 2. While Nintendo sells its own webcam for the Switch 2, the console is also compatible with several other third-party cameras. Unfortunately, although Nintendo did reveal the specs necessary for a webcam to function properly on its new console, the company did not provide a list of working models from other companies like Logitech.
The new GameChat feature on the Nintendo Switch 2 has early adopters looking for cameras that can be used with the console. Given that the Switch 2 comes with a hefty price tag of $450, some gamers are trying to avoid the additional $55 peripheral by using traditional webcams. Some of the more clever fans have even found a way to use the camera on their smartphone with the Nintendo Switch 2, but that method requires additional cables. Thankfully, Logitech has now become the first major webcam manufacturer to confirm compatibility information for the Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners without an official camera have a cheaper plug-and-play option available, and it sounds easy to use.
According to The Verge, Logitech can now confirm that all of its webcams work with the Nintendo Switch 2 except for only one model - the Logitech Brio 4K. This means that pretty much any old Logitech webcam should be compatible with the console, greatly lowering the cost of entry for cameras on the Switch 2. Some fans might even be able to find a Logitech webcam that works simply by digging through an old closet, and nothing beats a free peripheral for a new console.
All But One Logitech Webcam is Compatible With Nintendo Switch 2
Although Logitech has not confirmed yet whether it will update the Brio 4K to make it compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, it's worth noting that there is a firmware update that webcam manufacturers can use to fix Switch 2 compatibility issues. Given the relative ease of resolving this issue, Logitech probably won't be the last company to make such an announcement, and console owners might want to test other brands of webcams as well. While this option might not be as visually appealing as the Piranha Plant camera, it will certainly be a lot more affordable.
Early adopters are undoubtedly excited to try new camera features on this console, but there are only a few games currently compatible. Even though there are exclusive new mini-games in Super Mario Party Jamboree, titles such as Mario Kart World are only compatible with the Switch 2 GameChat, a feature that only scratches the surface of what is possible on Nintendo's new console. Now that fans have more camera options than the exclusive Nintendo peripherals, it will be interesting to see whether Nintendo Switch 2 owners decide to buy the official camera or try to find an old webcam that works instead.
