Nintendo Switch 2 owners wondering what's next for the system will want to mark their calendars for the six big games releasing in September 2025. The Nintendo Switch 2 got off to a hot start thanks to Mario Kart World, and it kept that momentum going strong with Donkey Kong Bananza in July. Unfortunately, August has proven to be rather flat for the Switch 2, but maybe the new games coming in September will help make up for it.
Drag x Drive is the new first-party Nintendo game that released for the Switch 2 in August, and it has earned mixed reviews, to say the least. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is on deck for a Switch 2 upgrade later this month that will include brand-new story content, but otherwise, there isn't much for fans to look forward to this month. September seems to have a bit more for Switch 2 owners to check out, and there's a chance that there's a surprise waiting in the wings as well.
Nintendo Reminds Fans About 10 Big Upcoming Games for Switch Consoles
Nintendo shines a spotlight on 10 games that are on the way, some for the original Switch and others for the Switch 2.
There are six big games confirmed to be releasing for the Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2025 at the time of this writing. Star Wars Outlaws is coming to the Switch 2 on September 4, while survival-horror game Cronos: The New Dawn is launching on September 5. That same day, NBA 2K26 is coming to the Switch 2. Then there's a big gap until EA Sports FC 26 lands on Switch 2 on September 26 with Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac launching the same day. Finally, the Switch 2 September 2025 new releases will come to an end when Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles launches on September 30.
Upcoming Switch 2 Games for September 2025
- Star Wars Outlaws - September 4
- Cronos: The New Dawn - September 5
- NBA 2K26 - September 5
- EA Sports FC 26 - September 26
- Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac - September 26
- Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles - September 30
Nintendo likes to release at least one first-party game per month, give or take, which is why the lack of one for September 2025 is puzzling. There are rumors that a Nintendo Direct could happen in early September, and if so, perhaps a new Switch 2 game for September 2025 will be announced at the event. As it stands, there are multiple Switch 2 games planned for 2025 that are currently without release dates.
Kirby Air Riders is a Switch 2 exclusive without a solid launch date, as is Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, though the latter is expected to come in December. And while Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is technically a Switch 1 game, it's getting a special Switch 2 Edition that will come with major enhancements. Like Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still missing its release date as well. While Nintendo fans wait for more news on that front, they can look forward to the six big games that have been confirmed for September 2025 so far.
