Summary

  • Metaphor: ReFantazio is rumored for the Nintendo Switch 2 launch window.
  • Multiple leakers have claimed that Metaphor is coming to the new console.
  • Fellow Atlus game Persona 3 Reload is also rumored for the Switch 2.

According to a new rumor, 2024's critically-acclaimed Metaphor: ReFantazio could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the console's launch window. Nintendo has not officially revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 just yet, but there have been no shortage of leaks about the highly-anticipated next-generation system.

If the leaks are to be believed, the Switch 2 is going to essentially be a more powerful Switch with various quality of life upgrades. The latest rumors suggest that the Switch 2 reveal will happen in a matter of days, with the console expected to launch in May or June of this year. Whether there's any truth to those claims remains to be seen, but the supposed leaks aren't slowing down in the meantime.

Switch 2 Size Compared to Original Console, Based on the Leaks

Based on the leaked information about the console, here is how the size of the Switch 2 might compare to the original console.

One of the latest Switch 2 leaks suggests that Metaphor: ReFantazio is in the works for the Switch 2. Well-known leaker PH Brazil has suggested that while Metaphor: ReFantazio may not be a Switch 2 launch title, the beloved JRPG will potentially release within the system's "launch window." If past Nintendo consoles are any indication, the Switch 2 "launch window" constitutes the time from its release date to the end of the year.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Rumored for Switch 2

For those unfamiliar with the game, Metaphor: ReFantazio earned a great deal of acclaim and was in fact one of the highest-rated new releases of 2024. Metaphor: ReFantazio was nominated for multiple awards at The Game Awards 2024, including Game of the Year, and won the awards for Best Narrative and Best Art Direction. Considering the close working relationship between Nintendo and Metaphor publisher Sega, it is a no-brainer to bring the game to the Switch 2.

This isn't even the first time that we've heard about Metaphor: ReFantazio potentially coming to the Switch 2. Last year, a separate leak said that not only is Metaphor: ReFantazio coming to the Switch 2, but Persona 3 Reload is in the works for the console as well. Again, none of this would be surprising, but it's great to hear that Nintendo is seemingly already getting a great deal of third-party support for its next-generation console.

In the meantime, Metaphor: ReFantazio isn't the only game rumored for the Switch 2 launch window. Ubisoft reportedly has over half a dozen games in development for the Switch 2, while companies like Konami and even Microsoft are rumored to be preparing releases for the device as well. Multiple rumors have said that the next Mario Kart will be a launch title, while a new 3D Super Mario game will be released within the launch window, but fans will have to wait and see if there's any truth to these claims.
