Nintendo has started sending out Switch 2 pre-order invites to those that signed up for the opportunity through its website. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders were staggered thanks to the Trump tariffs, but fans in the US finally had the chance to pre-order the console from retailers like GameStop, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target on April 24. Unfortunately, the initial Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders didn't exactly go as planned.

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders were plagued by severe technical problems across the board as retailers struggled to keep up with the incredible demand for the next-generation home console/handheld hybrid. Even when the technical issues were ironed out, Nintendo fans struggled to secure their Switch 2 pre-order, as supply sold out almost immediately.

Now Nintendo fans have another chance to pre-order the Switch 2 ahead of the console's launch on June 5. In an effort to combat scalpers, Nintendo gave fans the chance to sign up for a Switch 2 pre-order invite directly through its website. Switch 2 pre-order invites prioritize those that have had a 12-month Switch Online subscription and have logged at least 50 hours on the Switch 1. Those Switch 2 pre-order invite emails are going out now. Those that get a Switch 2 pre-order invite will have 72 hours to claim their console. New invites will be sent out from now until May 12 while supplies last. Anyone that signed up is encouraged to visit Nintendo's pages for the two Switch 2 bundles to see if their account has been given the greenlight, as it's possible they have been invited but simply haven't received the email yet.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order Pages

Those getting Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order invites can pre-order more than just the new console. Nintendo is also giving those individuals the opportunity to pre-order Switch 2 accessories and games directly from the company. This includes the Switch 2 GameCube controller, exclusive to Nintendo's website. Invitees will have first dibs on Switch 2 GameCube controllers, but it will be available to all Switch Online subscribers starting May 13, assuming any are left.

Nintendo Switch 2 stock isn't expected to last long, so it's unclear how many fans that missed out on retailer pre-orders will have the chance to get one from Nintendo. Nintendo already issued a warning about Switch 2 pre-orders for invitees in Japan, as more people signed up than there were consoles available. It's possible Switch 2 invite email pre-orders will be the same story in the US, but that remains to be seen.
