Nintendo Switch Online has added Klonoa: Empire of Dreams and Mr. Driller 2 to its content catalog. The Namco-published classics are the first Game Boy Advance titles to be added to the Western version of Nintendo Switch Online since April 2025.
Nintendo originally expanded its NSO offerings to GBA games back in February 2023. The GBA Classics app initially offered nine titles, with 15 more of them added over the next two years.
Switch Online Update Makes Improvement to Game Boy Advance Games
An early September 2025 update for Nintendo Switch Online introduces several big improvements to the app's Game Boy Advance catalog.
Continuing this trend, Mr. Driller 2 and Klonoa: Empire of Dreams reached Nintendo Switch Online earlier today, September 25. This catalog update nudges the NSO GBA library beyond its largely first-party lineup, as both of the newly introduced games are published by Namco. Mr. Driller 2 was also developed by Namco, whereas Klonoa: Empire of Dreams was made by Osaka-based Now Production, known for co-developing GameCube classics Sonic Riders and Mario Superstar Baseball.
New Nintendo Switch Online Games Today
- Klonoa: Empire of Dreams (GBA)
- Mr. Driller 2 (GBA)
Mr. Driller 2 is an old-school puzzler from 2000. The second title in the Mr. Driller series, it tasks players with drilling through stacks of colored blocks, either with the goal of reaching a target level or chasing a high score by going as deep as possible in Endless mode. The blocks themselves come in various colors and stick to others of the same color when falling, adding complexity and strategic depth to Mr. Driller 2 gameplay.
Conversely, Klonoa: Empire of Dreams is a puzzle platformer. Released in 2001, it features side-scrolling 2D levels that have players engage enemies with a so-called Wind Ring, used to draw characters toward the protagonist, bringing them in melee attack range and offering an opportunity to double jump by bouncing off them. Each level requires collecting three stars and finding an exit. Optional collectibles are also part of the experience, hidden throughout every stage.
NSO Now Offers 26 GBA Games
The September 25 arrivals raise the total number of Game Boy Advance Classics on Nintendo's subscription service to 26. They also mark the platform's first GBA expansion since Nintendo Switch Online added Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones in late April 2025. Prior to that, Wario Land 4 made its way to the service in February. All GBA titles require the higher-tier NSO membership, called Expansion Pack, to access. U.S. Pricing for NSO + Expansion Pack starts at $49.99 per year for an individual membership, with Nintendo also offering a $79.99 family plan. While the base NSO tier offers a monthly subscription, access to its Expansion Pack counterpart can only be purchased in 12-month increments.
