Every February, Nintendo features a Direct that outlines some of its year. While there are still questions about Nintendo games coming later this year, such as Breath of the Wild 2, the latest Direct really put Nintendo ahead of the game for this year.

Nintendo announced several games and their release dates between now and summer 2022. Combine this with already confirmed, multi-platform games releasing on the Switch, and it’s immediately clear that the Switch has a couple of strong months early this year.

Nintendo Video Game Releases (March)

March has quite a few games releasing, with March 25 particularly seeing a couple of releases like Kirby and the Forgotten Land (and other non-Switch titles like Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands). Looking over its March releases, there’s something for turn-based fans (Triangle Strategy), Final Fantasy fans (Chocobo GP), Persona fans (Persona 4 Arena Ultimax), farming RPG fans (Rune Factory 4), the headlining Nintendo title (Kirby and the Forgotten Land), and more.

For the latter, Kirby and the Forgotten Land definitely dominated the Direct. Not only are fans excited about Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s mouthful mode, which has spawned several memes already, but everything shown thus far on top of that is promising too.

  • March 1 – Far: Changing Tides
  • March 4 - Triangle Strategy
  • March 10 – Chocobo GP
  • March 15 - Phantom Breaker: Omnia
  • March 17 - Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
  • March 22 – Rune Factory 4
  • March 24 – A Memoir Blue
  • March 25 – Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Nintendo Video Game Releases (April)

What’s interesting about April is how only a handful of games have been announced for it thus far, but every single one is landing on the Switch. Some are third-party games hitting all platforms day one, like MLB The Show 22 and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but several are big exclusives or ports for the Switch. Chrono Cross and Advance Wars drew many fans’ eyes, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Zombie Army 4 are interesting ports, and Nintendo Switch Sports is a throwback to a classic experience.

  • April 5 – LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
  • April 5 – MLB The Show 22
  • April 7 – Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition
  • April 8 – Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp
  • April 12 – 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
  • April 20 – Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
  • April 26 – Zombie Army 4: Dead War
  • April 29 – Nintendo Switch Sports

What’s clear is that Nintendo still has more coming later this year, but between March and April, fans are definitely eating well.
