With E3 2020 just a short few months away, fans and critics alike have begun speculating on what to expect from the prestigious gaming convention this year. However, some rather disconcerting news has surfaced following the release of the newly published E3 2020 website.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, otherwise known as E3, is a yearly gaming event that features top development studios and video game publishers. The event is intended for developers to show off games that are currently in development, as well as premiere new titles that will be released in the future. An exciting announcement to come out of E3 2019 was Nintendo's world premiere of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.

The official website for E3 2020 was published a short time ago, and almost immediately fans noticed something rather concerning. Among the list of studios scheduled to appear at E3 2020, Nintendo is actually missing from the list. This obviously came as a surprising shock for everyone. The company typically opts for a Nintendo Direct instead of a stage show, but at least has a presence on the show floor to demo games.

With Sony also skipping E3 this year as well, fans are incredibly curious as to what to expect from E3 2020 and what Nintendo might potentially do to rectify its supposed absence. Though, just because its name is missing from the website does not exactly mean that Nintendo won't be participating in the convention.

It seems rather likely that this is just a mishap on E3's part considering Nintendo never made an official announcement saying that it would not be participating at the event. Considering the poor reception given to the most recent character to join Super Smash Bros., hopefully, Nintendo has some better news to give fans.

Then again, with everything happening this year, this will make for a rather interesting E3, for better or for worse. With many long-awaited titles such as  Final Fantasy 7 Remake  and The Last of Us 2  being released ahead of E3 2020, it's hard to predict what's in store for E3 this year. Along with Sony's official cancellation of its press conference, nobody truly knows what will happen this year.

E3 2020  will take place from June 9 to 11, 2020.
