While No Man's Sky's latest major update had caused a long list of problems for players on all platforms, many of these issues have fortunately been fixed in the game's latest 4.12 update, with the patch notes sporting yet another long list of bug fixes delivered by Hello Games. No Man's Sky's Fractal update introduced a wealth of new features for the game, which focused heavily on improving the experience for players on PS VR2 and Switch, while also expanding on some of the game's existing features.
Though some of the more recent major updates for No Man's Sky haven't been favored by all veteran fans of the game, they have undoubtedly made the game accessible to countless new players around the world. This is perhaps most evident with 2022's Waypoint update, which coincided with the launch of No Man's Sky for the Switch and introduced even more new content, which helped to bring fresh faces to the community. The game's Fractal update, released on all platforms during February, continued to build on the game's existing mechanics while also bringing support for PS VR2, launching a new expedition, and more.
Inevitably though, a plethora of new glitches and performance issues also found their way into the game along with the Fractal update. As often follows in the wake of a major update for No Man's Sky, the game's community lit up social media with posts bringing attention to issues consisting largely of crashes, visual bugs, and drops in frame rate across all platforms. The developers at Hello Games thankfully have an excellent track record when it comes to providing fixes for such issues post-release, and Hello Games founder Sean Murray posted a tweet earlier today detailing the fixes and improvements that came with the patch. Arriving just a week after the Fractal update launched, the 4.12 patch delivers fixes for many of the issues commonly encountered by players, including the "downloading data" bug that was preventing many fans from starting the new expedition.
Despite the developers' continuing dedication to No Man's Sky, many veteran fans in particular haven't been so happy with the game's latest updates. Many in the game's thriving community continue to express their craving for certain features, arguing that Hello Games' recent focuses on expeditionary content and technical enhancements are detracting from the game's core appeal: its exploration.
Though Hello Games have been making gradual but often hefty improvements to No Man's Sky's gameplay loop over the years, many fans urge the developers to focus an update on some of the community's most highly-requested features, specifically for improvements to planetary and procedural generation. The game's creator recently hinted towards "an even bigger year planned for 2023," giving hope to many fans that the developers are continuing to take community feedback into account for future updates.
