Fans of No Man's Sky are strapping in for yet another potential content update following a cryptic tweet from developer and Hello Games founder Sean Murray, but some other members of the community believe that the small tease may not have anything to do with No Man's Sky at all. The No Man's Sky community has enjoyed a consistent stream of completely free updates for years now, with Murray's infamous "emoji tweets" often serving as a prelude to these content drops.
With such emojis ranging from robot heads to oranges, each of these mysterious tweets has hinted at upcoming features for No Man's Sky in one way or another. For example, the plentiful tweets from Murray consisting purely of orange emojis throughout the summer of 2020 actually served as a play on the word "origins," which was the title of the major, exploration-focused update of that year. Fans of the game have recently been given cause for excitement yet again, with the creator of No Man's Sky potentially teasing another imminent update by sharing tweets which represent a different emoji - the planet Earth.
This one simple tweet quickly racked up hundreds of comments and tons of attention in less than 24 hours, and it didn't take long for speculation among fans to start running wild. A hint plainly consisting of a planet emoji is definitely a bit vague in the context of a game that already contains an incomprehensible quantity of planets, but fans have agreed on some likely possibilities. While Earth as it's known in the real world will in all likelihood never come to No Man's Sky due to a plethora of gameplay and lore reasons, the planet does represent one with a variety of unique environments - a quality that's absent across all of No Man's Sky's single-biome worlds.
What This Tease Could Mean For No Man's Sky Fans
Many have therefore speculated that this imminent update could focus on overhauling planetary environments and exploration - something that the No Man's Sky community has universally wished to see happen for years. However, others in the community are adamant that the tweet doesn't regard No Man's Sky at all, and rather hints at some major upcoming news pertaining to Hello Games' upcoming title, Light No Fire. The reason for this is simple - the little that is known about Light No Fire advertises it as a game that will feature an ambitious, truly open-world game on the same scale as Earth itself.
This possibility has left the community in an interesting position. Hello Games hasn't whispered a word about Light No Fire since the game's reveal late last year at The Game Awards, and many have been waiting eagerly for the game to get an official release date. At the same time, though, it would come as a major disappointment to No Man's Sky fans clamoring for an exploration and environmental update if the tease turns out to have nothing to do with the space exploration game. Either way, fans likely won't have to wait long to find out what the hint really means.
