No Man's Sky is a space survival-adventure game, famous for its massive open world and seamless travel between planets, that has been captivating the attention and imagination of fans worldwide since 2016. The developer, Hello Games, has hinted at a release for the Nintendo Switch for a while, but has now finally confirmed that No Man's Sky will come to the hybrid Nintendo console later this year.
Amid comparisons with the upcoming Starfield, new updates and expansions adding different elements to the game, and other exciting news, No Man's Sky coming to Nintendo Switch is yet another exciting moment in the game's life. Since 2016, No Man's Sky has seen 20 different updates, tweaks, expansions, and changes that have augmented and enhanced gameplay, graphics, quality of life, and many other aspects of the game.
Luckily, Nintendo Switch owners can rejoice that each one of No Man's Sky's updates will come built in to the Nintendo Switch Edition, which is releasing on October 7th. In partnership with Bandai Namco, the game will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch system in both digital and physical formats. For a game that is almost entirely procedurally generated by the processing power of the console or system that is running it, No Man's Sky landing on a console that isn't as powerful as other current gen consoles is an impressive feat.
Creative director Sean Murray praised community of No Man's Sky and talked about the "half a billion hours played, across millions of players" as a point of pride for the developers, and he looks forward to inviting the 100 million Switch owners to join the ranks. Screenshots of the Nintendo Switch version show bright, vibrant graphical images that are reassuring that the port to the Switch system will not downgrade the graphical integrity of the game by too much.
The upcoming Nintendi Switch port of No Man's Sky is a move that will be celebrated by the community for years if it lives up to expectations. Then, when No Man's Sky comes to PSVR2, the ever-expanding community, fanbase, and following of the game will grow even more.
Although it is true that ports of games to older gaming systems that are created for more powerful consoles and PCs can be a point of concern, many of these ports have come and gone in the last few years with great success. Fans can look forward to exploring the procedurally generated universe of No Man's Sky on the Nintendo Switch this October 7th.
No Man's Sky is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Switch version releasing on October 7th 2022.
