Fans of No Man's Sky are getting excited about another update to the game, with this one potentially bringing it to one of the few modern platforms that doesn't yet support the game. Hello Games founder and creator of No Man's Sky Sean Murray has once again posted a single emoji on his Twitter account, which veteran fans will recognize as a hint towards an imminent update for the procedurally generated space exploration game.No Man's Sky has received countless content updates since its rough launch back in 2016, and has since provided one of the most definitive redemption stories in gaming history. Its consistent flow of support over the years, combined with a concerted effort to weave community feedback directly into the game, has resulted in No Man's Sky growing into what many consider to be a different game compared to the original version. Several updates over the past year have helped push the game to even more players, bringing support to platforms including the Nintendo Switch as well as PlayStation's new PS VR2 technology.RELATED: This No Man’s Sky Build Takes Direct Inspiration From M.C. Escher Another wave of hype has been stirred up following a recent tweet from No Man's Sky creator Sean Murray, this time consisting of a single apple emoji. It's become something of a tradition for Murray to hint at upcoming updates through the use of emoticons, and while fans are usually quick to indulge in speculation, the focus of the upcoming update would seem relatively easy to guess this time. Considering that No Man's Sky was confirmed to be coming to Mac at some point this year by Apple's "Meet the new Macbook Pro and Mac mini" event back in January, it's not out of the question for the game's next update to bring the procedurally generated universe to Apple users.

Though no date was given at the time in regard to exactly when No Man's Sky will be dropping on MacOS, Apple has boasted various graphical technologies that it claims will make gaming feel responsive and look beautiful on its new hardware. Along with a previous showcase of the game being played on the Mac Mini, Apple has stated that No Man's Sky will be one of the first games to make use of its MetalFX upscaling technology and Metal 3 graphics API. It's also worth noting that an imminent MacOS port for No Man's Sky seems all the more likely after fans recently dug up a file labeled "Mac" from the game's internal depot.

No Man's Sky seems to have exploded in popularity these past few years, no doubt thanks to the quick support for next-gen hardware and the game's Nintendo Switch port. Though the community is continuing to grow, many fans have no shortage of features and changes that they hope to see added to the game in future updates. Thankfully, Sean Murray himself has alluded to plenty of new content coming this year, claiming that 2023 is set to be an even bigger year for the game than the last.

No Man's Sky is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A Mac port is in development.
