Is There A Progression System in No More Room in Hell 2?

Yes, there is a progression system implemented in No More Room in Hell 2 which lets players gain 2 kinds of experience points (XP) after completing a match. There are two different kinds of XP in the game:

  • Character XP
  • Account XP

Character XP

As indicated by the name, the character XP is tied to the current character that you're using to queue for matches. Players gain character XP by collecting supplies, completing both optional and main objectives, and extracting safely.

Character Progression No More Room In Hell-1

Accumulating character XP is the main way to level up a character, which unlocks new skills in No More Room in Hell 2. For every 5 levels, a new skill slot is unlocked. The game allows players to equip 1 of 3 skills per slot. The combination of skills equipped on your character will make it more effective for different situations, i.e. A marksman, a melee fighter, or a jack-of-all-trades.

However, if your character dies in a match, all the character levels, XP, and skills will be lost. You'll need to scratch from the start with another character. This is where account XP comes into play.

Account XP

The second type of experience point, account XP, is permanent and isn't lost with your character. Your overall level increases (displayed in the top-right corner of the screen) with every match you play. However, there isn't a weapon unlock system, or an achievement system tied to the account XP yet.

Since the game is in early access, there are still several features and systems yet to be implemented in terms of progression in No More Room in Hell 2. In the future, players may be able to gain new weapons, new types of responders, or even new maps unlocked after reaching a certain account XP. But for now, it doesn't give you anything.
