Starting out in No Rest for the Wicked can be tough. Players begin their adventure with literally nothing but tattered clothes and a few healing items, and as far as weapons go, fate will decide if they get anything during their first foray into Isola Sacra.

Getting a good starting weapon in No Rest for the Wicked is mostly up to RNG. There may be vendors who sell weapons, but their inventories are regularly refreshed. If you're new to the game and are looking for something nice to start with, here are our top recommendations.

Which Starting Weapon Should You Get in No Rest for the Wicked?

You won't get to pick a starting weapon in No Rest for the Wicked until you reach the Mess Hall in Mariner's Keep while doing the Sacrament quest. Inside the Mess Hall, you'll find Filmore, the local blacksmith who sells an assortment of basic equipment. You'll see more of him later once you get to the actual town of Sacrament, but by then, he'll have a smaller selection of weapons, and his inventory will start randomizing at regular intervals too.

Filmore's inventory while in the Mess Hall is random, so you may not get the weapon you want. Even so, everything he offers here can be equipped even by a level 1 character, so feel free to buy as much as you can. We do, however, recommend getting the following:

Weapon

Stat Requirement

Description

Scythe of Wretches

Dexterity, Faith

Can use Charged Attacks to perform wide, leaping slashes

Regal Cleft

Strength, Dexterity

A halberd with sweeping charged attacks and a strong, spinning Rune attack

Claymore

Strength

Slow but hard-hitting; Can use Charged Attacks to perform leaping overhead slashes

Blood-Rusted Sword

Strength

Versatile blade that's good for all situations

Pig Sticker

Dexterity

A rapier used for quick, long-ranged thrusts and lunges with Charged Attacks and Dodge Attacks

Assegai

Dexterity

Short Bow

Dexterity

Entwined Root

Intelligence

Wand that fires flame-based magic; deals good damage over time thanks to Burn inflictions

Woven Wraps

Dexterity

Fist weapons that use quick jabs and charged haymakers; comes with a Hadouken-style Rune attack

We strongly recommend trying out the Claymore and the Scythe if you're a fan of Charged Attacks. Otherwise, try out the Blood-Rusted Sword and the Pig Sticker. If Filmore doesn't have the weapons you want, try making a new Realm.

The enemies you defeat and the chests you loot have a chance to drop any of these weapons and more. Once you proceed through the story and level up some more, better weapons will become available. If you want to try farming weapons without progressing through the main quests or farming previously-visited areas, then try fighting in the Crucible and see what loot you get.
