Summary
- The Adoring Fan in Oblivion Remastered can access Dreamworld, surprising players.
- The NPC seems immortal and can enter Dreamworld without a Dream Amulet.
- Other NPCs like Lucien Lachance and Audens Avidius have also appeared in the Dreamworld.
One player recently discovered the Adoring Fan in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered can reach Dreamworld, an in-game area that most NPCs can't access. The return of the popular companion character in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has left many first-timers bewildered, but one trick up his sleeve is shocking even some long-time Oblivion players.
Nearly 20 years after his original appearance, players can once again find the Adoring Fan in Oblivion Remastered and recruit him as a companion. As in the original Oblivion, players will have to complete all 21 fights in the Imperial City Arena to recruit him, and while the plucky Bosmer is not of much use as a follower aside from holding a torch, he is functionally immortal, enthusiastically returning to the player's side a few in-game days after each of his apparent deaths.
Oblivion Remastered Local Map is More Useful Than You May Realize
Oblivion Remastered's local map contains more features than the original game's, and players are finding handy ways to use it.
But that's not the only trick up his sleeve. As discovered recently by one player, who goes by the Reddit handle Only_Upwards, the Adoring Fan can also enter Dreamworld under the right circumstances, showing he has a skill that most NPCs can't match. Players working their way through Oblivion Remastered's Mages Guild questline will be given a Dreamworld Amulet in Bravil and will use it to rescue fellow mage Henantier, who is trapped in a realm within his own nightmare. As a screenshot attached to the post shows, the Adoring Fan is somehow able to break into Dreamworld to reunite with his master postmortem, even if he doesn't seem to be in possession of his own amulet.
Oblivion Remastered's Adoring Fan Can Pierce the Veil of Dreams
While some players feel the Adoring Fan's ability is simply a programming error, others view it as a supernatural ability, and it seems he's not the only NPC to possess it. Players have also noted that Oblivion's Lucien Lachance, the Speaker of the Black Hand for the Dark Brotherhood, has also popped up unexpectedly while they have been exploring inside Henantier's dreams. Lachance is scripted to eerily appear at the foot of the player character's bed after the player wakes following their first murder, and multiple players have reported that he, like the Adoring Fan, doesn't seem to be hindered from entering Dreamworld to deliver his introductory evil monologue.
One last character who seems to possess this peculiar ability is Audens Avidius, the corrupt Imperial Watch captain that players can bring to justice through the Imperial Corruption quest. After Avidius is knocked down a peg, he too will stalk the player, seeking revenge, and it seems the depth of his hatred is so great that it can break through into Dreamworld as well.
