Some Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered players are quite unhappy that the Fine Steel Claymore now looks exactly like the regular one in the game. Oblivion Remastered was, in many ways, a reimagining that pleased even diehard fans of the 2006 title, but some minor details have irked some of those more dedicated to the original game's vibe.
Released last month, Oblivion Remastered was instantly a huge hit, reaching over four million players in a matter of days. A few weeks after its launch, Oblivion Remastered is already among the best-selling games of 2025, only behind Monster Hunter Wilds and Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the US.
Oblivion Remastered: All Daedric Shrine Locations
In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, Daedric Shrines lead to Daedric Artifacts, powerful weapons and armor with unique enchantments.
Now, an Elder Scrolls fan named Majestic_Address_373 on Reddit has shared a complaint that was backed by many gamers in the Oblivion community. According to them, the Fine Steel Claymore uses the same model as the regular Steel Claymore, which did not happen in the original Oblivion, where it had a “more elegant” design. The community largely agreed with the player, giving the post over 2,300 upvotes. Some gamers even complained that claymores were being nerfed across the board, as their combos are nowhere as powerful as other weapons such as daggers or shortswords, which makes them far less useful than in the original 2006 game.
Oblivion Remastered Players Are Disappointed With How the Fine Steel Claymore Looks
Fortunately, some other changes have pleased old-school Oblivion players. For instance, Oblivion Remastered players praised how cool the new Glass Armor looked, saying that it’s more realistic than the current version of the popular RPG, as the set resembles real-life crystal.
In any case, a few of the changes made by the remaster are fairly controversial with the community. Gamers have complained about Oblivion Remastered missing features from the original, using examples such as the Item menu not having subcategories and local maps being harder to access. Despite these issues, it’s fair to say that the opinions about the title are largely positive among the community.
Fortunately, Bethesda and Virtuos seem dedicated to turning Oblivion Remastered into its best version for fans. A few weeks ago, players spotted that Bethesda was asking for suggestions on how to improve Oblivion Remastered on the game’s Discord channel. This indicates that the developers may still tweak some of the changes made in the popular open-world game, correcting some of these “issues” that are angering part of the fanbase. In any case, it remains to be seen what the next updates will bring to Oblivion Remastered, so gamers can only wait until they learn more.
