  • Oblivion Remastered emerged as a major hit, attracting over 4 million players just three days post-launch.
  • Players believe certain types of terrain elevations and angles could affect the accuracy of fireball towers.

As noticed by one observant player, the fireball towers in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered do not seem to be hitting every player with similar accuracy. Since dropping across platforms, Oblivion Remastered has attracted many players and seen them invest tons of hours into the remaster of the 2006 game.

Without any prior announcement, Oblivion Remastered came out on April 22 and took the gaming world by storm. Boosted by its day-one arrival on Xbox Game Pass, the RPG title received over four million players just three days after launch. Stunningly, Oblivion Remastered's sales in the month of April itself outperformed the numbers achieved by the original in its first 15 months. Alongside other highly-rated games, namely Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince, it capped off a successful month for Game Pass day-one releases. The virtually countless hours of playtime spent by players in the game has unearthed quite a few interesting things so far, the latest of which seems to be the disproportionate threat of fireball towers to different players.

Oblivion Remastered is Putting The Elder Scrolls 6 in a Tough Spot

Oblivion Remastered made an important change to the original's formula that's very different from Skyrim, leaving TES 6 stranded between two extremes.

In a Reddit post, user MusicallyInhibited noticed that the fireballs released by the towers in Oblivion Remastered would rarely hit them, if ever – contrary to the expected behavior. They revealed making their player character walk on a straight path in anticipation of getting hit, but to no avail. While the original video was captured with non-interfering Oblivion Remastered mods in place, the curious player later tested the issue without mods as well and got nearly identical results. The one exception in the latter experiment was said to be a tower situated in a "flat area," suggesting that certain types of elevations and angles could be messing up the accuracy of these fireball towers, a theory that was brought up by a few different users in the comments. Besides MusicallyInhibited, some other players also acknowledged facing a similar issue with the towers. A number of comments also implied that this was happening regardless of the platform they played on.

Oblivion Remastered Player Notices Surprising Inaccuracy of Fireball Towers

In the comments under the post, there were seemingly way more players who didn't face the issue compared to those who did. Hence, the problem with the aim of fireball towers could possibly be a bug that only affects certain players doing certain actions. Recently, a game-breaking Oblivion Remastered bug was found to have been carried over from the original game.

After the official remaster, Elder Scrolls enthusiasts now have the unofficial remake of Oblivion to look forward to. Having been in development since 2012, Skyblivion is a long-awaited fan project built by volunteer devs in Skyrim's engine and is scheduled to land by the end of 2025.
