Summary

  • Oblivion Remastered allows players to power-level characters quickly through exploits and tricks, like creating OP spellcrafts and abusing unkillable NPCs.
  • Players can break the game by using specific routes to gather ingredients for potions, leveling up characters while also becoming wealthy in the process.
  • Exploiting existing glitches and utilizing certain skills like Atronach Birthsign can enhance playthroughs, showing that "cheating" can be rewarding in the long run.

After working on the game for a long time, Bethesda and Virtuos finally shadow-dropped Oblivion Remastered just about one month ago, and it has since been an enormous success, possibly thanks to a mix of nostalgia for those who played the original and the lack of a new mainline game in the series for almost 14 years. Nonetheless, Oblivion Remastered is being experienced by many players all around the world now, and despite it being a massive facelift for the original, some things are functionally the same. Players can still use the same tricks, exploits, and glitches as the original, and leveling can be quite rewarding for "cheaters."

The leveling process in Oblivion Remastered is faster than the original for a few key reasons, such as all skill rank-ups contributing to character levels as well as a change in the way Major Skills and Specializations work. This mostly means that players will likely skip the mid-game section once they start leveling up, going from early- to late-game in one sitting, and that's precisely thanks to more frequent and easier rank-ups. Be it part of the problem or something that players can use to their own advantage, many power-leveling tricks from the original game still apply, and can take characters to very high levels very quickly.

Oblivion Remastered Players Can Never Worry About Weapons Again With One Quest

Oblivion Remastered has many quests worth doing, and one of them awards one of the best items in the game, removing worries regarding weapons.

How Players Can Break Oblivion Remastered For Incredible Gains

One of the most glaring examples of "cheating" in Oblivion Remastered is that players can virtually endlessly have their character train with NPCs for free. Oblivion Remastered's spellcrafting is OP much like in the original game, and one can potentially make a Drain Skill spell that works on self with magnitude 100, associated with any specific skill in the game, then talk to any NPC who can be a trainer for that skill, and get five rank-ups for a whopping total of 100 gold. This is because Drain Skill would take that given skill's level to 0, meaning that the trainer NPC would perceive it as rank 0, then 1, then 2, and so forth in terms of cost.

One can also forego the need for Master Trainer quests in Oblivion Remastered with this method, as reducing the skill's level to 0 also means that any trainer for that skill will always have a high enough level to train the main character.

Another interesting method to power-level characters is to run a specific route that encompasses four different locations between Chorrol, Kvatch, and Skingrad to get enough ingredients for a plethora of potions, even with a low Alchemy level in Oblivion Remastered, then craft those potions, and get levels in the process. On top of that, potions sell for quite a lot of gold, so players can simultaneously become rich and also level up Mercantile.

There are other ways to "cheat" the game by power-leveling characters in unintended ways, such as heading to Peryite's Shrine east of Bravil and, instead of starting the Daedric Prince's quest in Oblivion Remastered, starting to attack his followers. These NPCs are unkillable and unresponsive, and they are part of Peryite's quest, so players can endlessly attack them with weapons to level up the respective skill (Blade, Blunt, or Marksman) as well as fists (Hand-to-Hand) and magic (Destruction), essentially getting free levels and being able to do this as one pleases.

One can also head to the town of Hackdirt, south of Chorrol, and place their character just under the wooden roof of the local well, then repeatedly press the jump button. This will increase Acrobatics in Oblivion Remastered quickly, as the roof cancels the jumping animation, and the next jump is immediately ready to use. These are just some power-leveling methods that prove how one can break the game and also get a personal gain out of it.

Power-Leveling is Not The Only Way to 'Cheat' in Oblivion Remastered

This is not even limited to power-leveling, as existing glitches and exploits can dramatically improve a given playthrough or make it much smoother and easier. For example, players can select the Atronach Birthsign in Oblivion Remastered for a bonus of 150 Magicka with the caveat that they cannot regenerate it, which is somehow circumvented by using Telekinesis spells. These count toward the spell absorption part of the Atronach Birthsign, regenerating much more Magicka than they spend, fundamentally removing the Birthsign's penalty. Oblivion was far from a perfect game, and its modern successor is further proof that, sometimes, "cheating" can be very rewarding.
