In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, crafting remains a vital part of the overall experience. There are, of course, several different types of crafting in the game. Here, we will examine the crafting of potions and poisons specifically, which are both tied to the same mechanic throughout the game. Every type of character can benefit from using even the basic Alchemy system, which is what this mechanic is based around. For this reason, every player should consider learning how to craft potions and poisons in Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion Remastered: How To Get Armor & Weapons Of Cataclysm (Burning Trail Quest)
Players can get the Weapons and Armor of Cataclysm, which are part of the Oblivion Remastered Deluxe edition, by completing the Burning Trail quest.
How to Unlock Potion & Poison Crafting in Oblivion Remastered
Locate Alchemy Crafting Tools:
You do not begin Oblivion Remastered with the ability to craft potions and poisons. Instead, you must unlock the ability through acquiring the correct tools. Luckily, the bare minimum required to get started – the Novice Mortar & Pestle – can be found extremely early in the game. Once you have these items, you will be able to perform alchemical crafting at the Novice level.
Once you have the Novice Mortar & Pestle, you'll be able to craft potions and poisons at the most basic level. However, if you want to get the most out of your crafting, you'll want to get the full set of Alchemy crafting tools, which include:
- Mortar & Pestle
- Calcinator
- Retort
- Alembic
While you can find the Mortar & Pestle during the tutorial, there is a single location where you can find all the items at once as soon as you complete the tutorial and gain access to the full map of Cyrodiil.
To collect every item, visit the town of Chorrol, which sits to the west of the Imperial City. In Chorrol, you'll want to visit the local Mage's Guild, which is found at the north end, to the left of the Fighter's Guild building.
Once you find the building, you'll want to head inside and join the Mage's Guild by speaking with Teekeeus. If you do this as soon as you start the game, there should be no barrier to joining the guild. Once you've joined, enter the room to the left of Teekeeus.
Inside, you'll find Angalmo, who sells various alchemy items. Luckily, you will not have to buy them. Instead, enter the small room off to the side of the counter. There, you'll find a stockpile of alchemy items. There should be every Novice level item you'll need. If there are any missing, you can actually grab them from the wall behind Angalmo.
As long as you are a member of the guild, you should have no issues with this being considered stealing.
How to Craft Potions & Poisons in Oblivion Remastered
Open the Inventory:
Once you have all the required Alchemy crafting tools, you need to open your Inventory and go to the Alchemy tab. Scroll down until you find the Novice Mortar & Pestle. Select it, and the Potion & Poison crafting menu will open. On the left side of the menu, you'll see your list of ingredients. On the right, you'll see the crafting menu.
To craft a potion or poison, you need at least two items that have the same effect. In the most general terms, items that Restore, are potions, items that Damage, are poisons. When you have an item highlighted in the ingredients menu, you'll see the list of effects at the bottom left of the window.
The results of your crafting will be placed back into your Alchemy inventory.
