Summary
- The Kvatch bug is causing headaches in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
- To fix the Kvatch bug, players must go to the Great Hall, loot the Colovian Signet Ring, and talk to Savlian Matius again.
- It's possible this bug will be patched out in a future update, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Those playing through The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered are coming across a bug during the Battle for Castle Kvatch quest. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has dropped to a great deal of fanfare, though the game is not without its issues. Various technical problems have been discovered in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered since its shadow drop, with some more serious than others.
Some Oblivion Remastered bugs are silly, but others are causing a great deal of frustration. For example, there are some Oblivion Remastered players that are losing their save files, which is absolutely catastrophic for a massive RPG like this. In the meantime, a less serious, but still frustrating, bug is causing some confusion for those making their way through Oblivion Remastered's main quest.
Oblivion Remastered: Achievement & Trophy Guide
Players will obtain all of the games achievements and trophies simply by completing every quest they can find in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered.
Early in Oblivion Remastered's main quest, players will reach a quest called "The Battle for Castle Kvatch." As players progress through the quest, they will reach a point where the character Savlian Matius won't stop saying "Charge the courtyard! Leave none of them standing!" Even after players have already killed all the enemies in the courtyard. While some may be worried that they are unable to continue the quest, the fix for this issue is actually quite simple. All players need to do is go into the Great Hall at the end of the courtyard, kill the enemies on the other side, proceed to Count's Quarters, and find and loot the Colovian Signet Ring from Ormellius Goldwine's corpse. When this is done, players should be able to talk to Matius and continue the main quest like normal. However, mileage may vary.
How to Fix Oblivion Remastered Kvatch Bug
- Go into Great Hall
- Go to Count's Quarters
- Loot Colovian Signet Ring from Ormellius Goldwine's corpse
- Talk to Savlian Matius again
It's unclear if this issue will be fixed in a future update for Oblivion Remastered. Oblivion Remastered features more realistic graphics and major gameplay tweaks, but it carries over many of the exploits and technical issues that plagued the original game. It's possible some of these more serious problems (like the Kvatch bug and the save deletion issue) get fixed, but that remains to be seen.
Oblivion Remastered's bugs aside, the game has otherwise been met with open arms from the Elder Scrolls community. Oblivion Remastered was an instant hit as soon as it shadow dropped, and has earned a great deal of praise from those nostalgic for the original and newcomers to the game alike. Many are happy to see Oblivion updated for modern hardware, and hope that some of Bethesda's other games, like Fallout 3, get a similar treatment.
