Oblivion Remastered was shadow-dropped earlier this week after its development had been rumored for a long time. The game, which remastered the visuals of the title game using Unreal Engine 5, has become a huge hit, as over four million gamers played Oblivion Remastered. While most of the game’s systems remained intact, visuals, the UI, and some elements like levelling up were slightly tweaked, but some gamers do not like all of these changes.

One of the missing features that gamers miss about the original Oblivion is the subcategories in the game’s item menu. As seen in a post made by an Elder Scrolls fan called Occasionally_around, which gained over 3,800 upvotes, 2006’s Oblivion had a useful option to sort items via categories, which could, for example, allow the Apparatus to make alchemical goods to be separate from Potions and Ingredients. As it currently stands, all of these items are together on the same page, and it’s more time-consuming to find and use them. In the post’s comments, multiple gamers agreed with Occasionally_around, saying that the change would greatly improve usability. Also, others complained about different aspects, such as how local maps can only be accessed by zooming in on the regular map.

Despite all the effort that went into recreating Oblivion, the game still has some issues, including a few bugs. One well-known problem, for example, is a bug in Oblivion Remastered's The Battle for Castle Kvatch, in which Savlian Matius does not acknowledge gamers killing all the enemies in the courtyard.

Another issue affecting the fanbase was that some players lost their saves in Oblivion Remastered recently. The issue seemed to affect only Xbox Series X/S and PC players, and it was fairly annoying, as some people lost many hours of gameplay.

Fortunately, Bethesda is aware of these issues and seems to be currently working to solve them. Bethesda released an update for Oblivion Remastered earlier this week, which was intended as a hotfix. Unfortunately, the hotfix introduced a new glitch to the game, as some PC gamers seem to be currently prevented from enabling DLSS upscaling. Hopefully, all of these problems will be addressed sooner rather than later, and gamers will be able to enjoy Oblivion Remastered in its best state.
