More often than not, it is advised to hold off on doing certain main quests in Oblivion, as quest rewards scale with the player's level. Oblivion Remastered: What To Do With the Mundane Ring?
While players can keep killing Raven Camoran in Paradise over and over again, collecting Mundane Rings with each kill, the shopkeepers in Oblivion are capped at how much money they can offer per item. The absolute most that can be offered is by being a Master of Mercantile and investing in Nilphas Omellian, a vendor unlocked by the Battlehorn Castle. This allows players to gain 3,000 Septims per Mundane Ring, but at that point, the Hero of Kvatch has more than enough gold to work with.
The true value of the Mundane Ring is in the gameplay benefit it provides, especially in the hands of a Breton. By combining the Mundane Ring with an Escutcheon of Chorrol, Ring of the Iron Fist, and Necklace of Blades, a Breton character in Oblivion becomes virtually impervious to any type of damage. Players who seek a challenge during their adventure in Cyrodiil are often advised against obtaining the ring, but for those who want to make broken builds, Oblivion certainly has them covered.
