Summary
- Oblivion Remastered player completed a pacifist run, using Illusion magic to avoid killing.
- Bethesda titles are popular for challenge runs; players add self-imposed restrictions for replayability.
An Oblivion Remastered player has completed a "pacifist" run of the game, beating the main quest with zero creatures or people killed along the way. While some RPGs offer pacifist solutions to many problems, Oblivion Remastered largely relies on combat to get through the main quest, making this achievement even more impressive.
Community challenge runs are a staple of Bethesda titles at this point. After beating these games normally, many players choose to replay them by putting self-imposed restrictions on their gameplay, with the versatility of Bethesda titles a perfect choice for this kind of playthrough. There was even one Skyrim player who beat the game using only Daedric artifacts, so it's good to see that the community has remained creative after the release of Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion Remastered Player Spots Their Real-Life Rug in the Game
An Oblivion Remastered player is baffled to discover that a rug they own in real-life has an identical counterpart in Bethesda's fantasy game.
Previously reported by The Gamer, Redditor Pluzle shared their character statistics after beating the main quest in Oblivion Remastered. Remarkably, they have achieved the feat without killing a single person or creature, marking a total pacifist run according to the game. However, it's not quite so simple, with the player instead using Illusion magic to turn enemies against each other in combat. This means that while Pluzle wasn't technically killing the enemies, they were still dying nonetheless.
Oblivion Remastered Player Beats the Game Without Killing Anyone (Sort Of)
The Oblivion Remastered build Pluzle used for this playthrough also used "Restoration to stay alive and buff allies," while also focusing on "Alteration to open doors" and "athlet/acrobat to just ignore threats and to speed things up." There was even one instance in which they had to force an enemy to kill themselves using fall damage in order to progress later in the story, but according to the game stats, this still constitutes a pacifist run in Oblivion Remastered.
Players will undoubtedly be discovering the best ways to play Oblivion Remastered for some time to come yet. It's interesting that even with some players on their first playthroughs of the game, others are already pushing the boundaries of what is possible. There are plenty of ways to make Oblivion Remastered as hard as possible, but it's tough to imagine that it gets more difficult than avoiding killing enemies altogether.
