Just two weeks after its release, Oblivion Remastered became the third-best-selling game of 2025 so far, falling only to Monster Hunter Wilds and Assassin's Creed Shadows. Since then, its hot streak has only continued, with its April sales figures smashing the benchmark set by its 2006 original.
Most Oblivion Remastered Players Aren't Bothering to Complete the Main Quest

Games industry analyst Mat Piscatella revealed on Bluesky that Oblivion Remastered sold more units in April 2025 than the OG Oblivion did across its first 15 months. Its dollar amount tells a similar story, as the remaster generated more money in April than the original did in its first 14 months combined. Those figures would be impressive in any context, but it's worth noting that the new version came out on April 22, meaning it achieved this monumental feat in just over a week. Its day-one availability on Game Pass likely helped, as Oblivion Remastered is the biggest Xbox Game Pass debut of 2025 so far.

The original Oblivion isn't the only game the remaster has surged past. According to Piscatella, it was April 2025's best-selling game, despite its late-month release, beating out the likes of the current year-to-date leader Monster Hunter Wilds and perennial mainstay Minecraft. Its spot as the third-best seller for the year as a whole has yet to budge, and all of this is coming as Oblivion Remastered players are calling for additional patches amid frequent reports of bugs and quality-of-life issues.
Those jaw-dropping sales figures have helped solidify Microsoft's place as a frontrunner among publishers for the year. In addition to Oblivion Remastered, three other Microsoft-published games ranked in the top 10 bestsellers for April: Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Those last two were largely responsible for Microsoft being the world's top game publisher of December 2024, and while there's a long way to go to the end of the year, the company's 2025 performance is off to a great start.
