Oblivion Remastered has a huge variety of weapons for players to use in their builds, but Mehrunes Razor is one of the strongest ones that every player should have. Players can get this weapon towards the end of the similarly named quest, Unearthing Mehrunes Razor. It's one of the longest quests that sends players into the deepest of caverns, filled with tough enemies. However, the weapon reward at the end is worth the effort.

How to Start Unearthing Mehrunes Razor Quest in Oblivion Remastered

To start the Unearthing Mehrunes Razor quest, players will need to travel to the Sundercliff Watch, east of Bravil in Oblivion Remastered. After entering the caverns, you'll encounter several Drothmeri Soldiers. Eliminate the soldiers and move forward until you arrive at a locked door with the prompt, "A voice beyond the door calls out: Who gathers stormclouds over Nirn?"

To get the password for the door, search inside the little sack to the right of the door and read the small diary. After uttering the password for the door, "Chimer," players will be able to explore further into the caverns.

Finding Drothan's Journal in his Cabin

Once the gate is opened, several enemies will ambush you. Although players have an option to fight them, it's best to just run past them and head to the next area. Keep heading down the caverns until you arrive at a hole in the ground. Head down the stairs from here and keep going forward until you enter the Sundercliff Village.

There will be several enemies sitting near a bonfire, so either sneak past them or simply run to the other side and enter the Sundercliff Communion. Here, cross the rope bridge and enter the house on the right to find Drothan's Journal on the table. The journal describes how Drothan has ventured into a place called Varsa Balim, and players will need to find Bezoars to unlock the passage to it.

Find Two Bezoars to Unseal the Barrier to Varsa Balim

After reading the journal, exit the house and enter the commander's house to the right. You'll need to fight and defeat the Drothmeri Commander, and you can get his sword after the battle. Head inside to his living quarters and grab the first Bezoar on the table, next to the jewel box.

Now follow the second quest marker, which should take you inside the Sundercliff Forge. Keep following the narrow caverns until you arrive in an open area with a tent on the left. Enter the Forgemaster's tent and grab the second Bezoar on the table. Quickly make your way out of the forge and return to Sundercliff Commune. Here, carefully drop from the ledge, and you'll spot a gateway towards the left of the lodge.

At the end of this path, you'll need to place both of the Bezoars on each pedestal to unseal the doorway to Varsa Balim, allowing you to enter inside.

Exploring Varsa Balim and Getting Mehrunes Razor

Players will enter a narrow hallway that they'll need to traverse to the very end to reach the ancient Ayelid City of Varsa Balim in Oblivion Remastered. There will be enemies on your way, but you should conserve your resources for the final battle.

Quickly head towards the big altar at the end of the room, and jump off the ledge on the right to enter through a doorway to Cava Beldameld. Go through the twisting and turning ruins until you arrive back in Varsa Balim. Now, turn around and run to the back of the room and traverse the ruins until you enter through the doorway to Cava Marspanga.

From here, once you exit the hallways, you'll need to carefully walk over the pillars connecting the platform and reach the center with glowing rocks. Head down the spiral staircase and you'll enter the Nefarivigum. Here, you'll need to battle Frathen Drothan first.

Once the evil wizard is defeated, interact with the soldier statue on the right to get his Beating Heart. Head into your inventory and consume the heart to trigger the final boss fight against Msirac Faythung. Once the boss is defeated, you'll be able to take the Mehrunes Razor in Oblivion Remastered and exit the Ayelid City.
