Obsidian Entertainment is one of the most popular RPG developers around, boasting many fans who have grown attached to the developer ever since the release of Fallout: New Vegas. The studio has continued to wow gamers ever since by developing all kinds of RPGs and dipping its toes in other genres too.

As one would expect, some of Obsidian's games feature stealth mechanics that players can use to get the jump on enemies. Even the most rudimentary stealth mechanics ensure that players have more options to access in combat, which is ideal for obvious reasons. Stealth mechanics will also be featured in Avowed, Obsidian's newest game, which is shaping up to be a great experience.

It can be hard to manage stealth in Neverwinter Nights 2, especially since controlling an entire party without being spotted can be a clumsy affair. The best way to enjoy this mechanic is to see stealth as a means to an end instead of a reliable way to clear out enemies without being spotted.

The D&D ruleset means that players can only get lucky with so many dice rolls before they're eventually spotted. However, they should have enough time to set up their party in an optimal position to manage combat encounters easily, which is helpful for obvious reasons.

It's a shame that Knights of the Old Republic 2 launched with a ton of bugs and cut content. With better management, this game could've exceeded the quality of the first game, which is no mean feat.

Thankfully, players can still use mods to restore some content and patch out the majority of bugs in this title. They'll be rewarded with an entertaining RPG loaded with content where players can use stealth to take foes by surprise, even if their other party members are pretty much useless when the main character is sneaking around.

Pillars of Eternity was Obsidian's attempt to use crowdfunding to keep their company afloat when they were facing financial problems. Many players supported the company in this goal, allowing them to develop a CRPG that harkened back to the genre's golden era.

The result is a rich and engaging RPG with great worldbuilding and fun real-time combat that can be paused to assess the situation. Most players will love using stealth to steal items or position their party well for certain encounters, making it easy to overwhelm foes with their attacks.

If Tyranny had achieved its grand vision, it could've established itself as one of the best CRPGs fans can get their hands on. As things stand, it's still a worthwhile experience that fans will enjoy as long as they can look past its hasty ending.

Stealth is one of the many mechanics players can use, letting the party sneak around to steal items with ease or maneuver around to surprise enemies before starting the encounter on their terms. If players land a sneak attack, then it's even better as they can potentially one-shot their foes with the right build.

Stealth in Pillars of Eternity 2 works almost similarly to its predecessor, with players vanishing out of sight to perform unscrupulous actions or ambush their foes. It's a simple gameplay mechanic but one that adds to the title's gameplay variety.

Players can turn their Watcher into a crafty hero who isn't above stealing items and surprising their foes to attain victory. While a direct assault is always viable, high-difficulty playthroughs or taking on enemies who are many levels stronger become more manageable with a bit of stealth added to the mix.

Stealth in Fallout: New Vegas seems rudimentary but does a great job of giving the Courier additional options in combat. Players will love sneaking around with this character to land high-damage attacks on unsuspecting opponents.

Players who choose to level up their sneak stat can circumvent any encounter they want as long as they stay out of sight. It may be a cowardly way to play the game, but players prefer to survive and see another day instead of jumping into an ill-advised battle with a family of Deathclaws.

If Alpha Protocol had launched in a stable state, it would've possibly become one of the greatest Western RPGs of all time. Under all the bugs, Michael Thornton's missions are a blast to play through as players check out the numerous options at their behest.

Stealth is a viable tactic players can use to take out enemies without making any noise. In fact, as a covert agent, Thornton has more options in stealth as compared to any other Obsidian protagonist, making this game a perfect espionage RPG that fans will love to get their hands on if they enjoy sneaking around enemy bases and incapacitating hostiles silently.
