First, players need to head to the New York Times Games Wordle site. Next, they will need to choose a great starting word. In order to choose the best starting Wordle word, players should be familiar with the rules that all Wordle answers follow.
- Wordle answers are always five letters long and real English words.
- They are never slurs or other offensive terms; all of these were removed by the NYTs when it purchased the game.
- Wordle answers cannot be proper nouns.
- They are also usually American versions of words.
- These answers are never repeated.
- Wordle answers are never plural nouns ending in S, though these can be used as guesses.
- A good starting word will have five different common letters to Wordle puzzles in them.
Type the chosen five-letter word into the website and press enter. This will cause the letters of the word to change color, giving players some clues to the real answer.
- Green are right.
- Gray are wrong.
- Yellow letters are right but in the wrong position of the word.
Given these clues, players have just five more tries to get to the answer of the day. Puzzles reset daily at midnight local time.
