What Is Kinoshita's Housenka About?

The talented director's latest project is Housenka. It is a film about an aging yakuza who is sentenced to life imprisonment. When he finds a flower growing in his cell, he thinks of it as an opportunity to reminisce about his past. The style chosen by the director for the interaction between the yakuza and the flower is conversational.

Baku Kinoshita's Housenka is reportedly 75 minutes long, making it one of the shorter anime films to come out in recent years. When it comes to staff, Baku Kinoshita is serving as the director while Kadzuya Konomoto is writing the script for the film. Michinoku Toge is credited with concept art. The film is being produced by CLAP. In the past, the studio has worked on the following projects:

Housenka Is Different From Odd Taxi

In an interview, Baku Kinoshita sat down and talked about the difference between Odd Taxi and Housenka. The director said that Odd Taxi had around 20 characters, making it difficult to give them enough time. He revealed that Housenka only has three main characters, which means that he will have ample time to work on them and go deeper psychologically.

Given how well Odd Taxi turned out to be, there is a strong chance that Housenka will be a hit with the viewers. If it does, it will give Baku Kinoshita and the other staff members the confidence to work on more projects in the future. Presently, a release date for Housenka remains unknown, but an announcement might be on the way.
