An incredibly dedicated Old School RuneScape player has completed a remarkable self-imposed challenge after 10,000 hours and two years of playtime. The challenge is one that even many of the most hardcore Old School RuneScape players would turn away from.

Because Old School RuneScape is an MMO with no set end goal, players often like to set their own challenges while playing to increase the fun factor. For most, reaching 99 in all skills and completing every quest in the game is enough of an end goal to keep playing for years upon years. However, some make new accounts to take on ridiculous challenge runs, often looking to push the boundaries of what is possible in the game. For example, there was an Old School RuneScape player who sought to reach 200 million Construction XP in just a month, which is a crazy achievement.

YouTube Agile Tom uploaded the finale to their two-year-long series, in which they have been playing the game from scratch inside one specific chunk. In Old School RuneScape, a chunk is a small slice of the world, and in this challenge, Agile Tom was unable to leave this chunk for any reason until completing all available content within it, from possible OSRS quests and challenges, to obtaining every unique monster drop possible. The problem is that back in April 2023 when beginning the challenge, Agile Tom deliberately chose chunk 4,919, commonly considered a "death chunk," as it's the location of Old School RuneScape's first raid, the Chambers of Xeric.

This "death chunk" is designed for high-level players to complete, and Agile Tom, playing as an Ironman, was unable to accept trades from other players to make the journey less grueling. This meant they had to be self-sufficient, completing all the challenges in the Old School RuneScape raid area while leveling every skill possible to its maximum just to be able to take part in the raid in the first place. The grind took over 10,000 hours in total according to Agile Tom, which in the end resulted in over 2,000 raid completions. They amassed a ton of rare raid loot along the way, on an account with more playtime in one area than most players will have in the entire game. It is a show of incredible dedication that Agile Tom reached the finish line on this one.

As for the game itself, Old School RuneScape has a lot of content for players to look forward to on the way. Later this year, Old School RuneScape will release Sailing, its first-ever new skill after over a decade. It will likely prove to be the game's biggest-ever update when it launches, so it's certainly one for fans to get excited about.
